Are you a gardener? Have you ever gone out to weed and find a tiny seedling popping up and wonder, “What is this? I don’t remember planting anything here before.”
As we continue to unearth the treasures in Isaiah 53, we come to this phrase: For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant – Isaiah 53:2b. You may be saying, “Surely there isn’t any treasure to be found here in this weak little thing.” But let’s take a look.
Tender Plant is Strong’s #3126 – and it looks like this: and the Strong’s definition says a sucker, suckling, sapling, or young plant.
But that doesn’t tell us much about Yeshua. Isaiah 11:1 begins with this: Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse…
Let’s see what we can discover in the letters. Reading from right to left:
Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand
Vav 6 = Man. Means: Nail or Hook, to Secure, Pin together, Connect -Yeshua
Nun 50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action
Qof 100 = Election of God’s chosen ones, set apart as holy. Means: Holiness, Consecrated, Divide, sun on the horizon, Back of the Head, Make a Complete Circle, End of a Cycle, Final, Behind, Dome
This little sapling, this tender plant looked the same as other little boys of his day. Little did they know that He was:
God’s Right Arm of Power (Yod) coming to bring Completion to God’s plan for our salvation. He came as a Man (Vav) to Secure us in God. He was bringing Restoration of Life (Nun) and through Him, we would be Set Apart (Qof) and Made Holy-Consecrated to follow Him.
Abba had big plans for this tender plant, plans He put in place before the foundation of the world. But when He first appeared, He wasn’t recognized for who He was.
But that’s often the way Abba works. 1 Corinthians 1:27 says, “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.”
We too often judge by outward appearance, only to discover later hidden treasure.
There are many more treasures ahead. Spend some time this week thanking God for sending us this Tender Plant Who came to restore us and give us abundant Life. ♥
All praise to Yeshua HaMaschiach, the Living God!!
