If you’ve ever given birth to a baby, you know that transition is the hardest part. This piece is from my journal when my husband and I were in transition with our plans to move to California. We were waiting for a buyer for our home, trying to create a landing place at the other end, and nothing was working.
In my frustration, I cried out to the Lord one morning.
“Lord, where are we on the path of transition? I need to know.”
In the middle.
What does that mean Lord?
Progress has been made but more is to come.
Lord, is there any way to hasten the progress?
Obedience.
Lord, we are both restless with the waiting, almost to the point of being tempted to do anything just to keep going forward.
Doing anything apart from My will is not going forward.
Father, it appears that You’ve given us a travel brochure with details of sights to see and things to do and we are more than excited to go on this adventure, but the itinerary is hidden, the dates are unknown and the destinations undetermined. Lord, we don’t know how to plan. We don’t know how much time remains. We don’t know if we need to be engaged here or committed to other things. You are not a god of confusion, Lord, I ask for clarity.
Remember when I told you about the disciples and how they walked with Me for three years and heard all the teachings and prophecy, yet, didn’t realize fully who I was until the resurrection? Then all the pieces came into place and they understood and believed My divinity? I’ve given you many pieces—some pieces—key pieces you haven’t seen yet, but when the time is right, you will receive those and clearly, you will see direction and timing.
While I didn’t get the answer I was hoping for–a complete blueprint–His word renewed my trust.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (I’ve used this scripture before but it bears repeating.)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Amos 4:13 For behold,
He who forms mountains,
And creates the wind,
Who declares to man what his thought is,
And makes the morning darkness,
Who treads the high places of the earth—
The Lord God of hosts is His name
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
If you are frustrated, cry out to God. He is leading even though you may not see the evidence.
