Have you considered the word ‘IF’?

Giftbox--IFI am prompted this morning to repost this piece from 2016.  How little we realize the availability of God’s help.  Take a minute and discover the treasure He supplies in this one word.

February 7, 2016

Holy Spirit stopped me with the word ‘if’ this morning.  If?  What could possibly be in this tiny word of any consequence?  At first I almost dismissed it, but then I saw in my minds eye a white gift box tied with a beautiful red bow.  (This picture doesn’t do it justice.)  On it was a tag with the word ‘If.’

Without further questioning, I pulled out my Strong’s and got to work.

“What are You showing me Abba?”

“Every ‘If’ that I propose Beloved, is a gift.  If you respond in obedience out of love and trust, you will discover the Hidden Truth of My Strength and character within to enable you to do what I am asking you to do.”

In other words, God is hidden inside every ‘if’ that He proposes.

ie. “IF you will….., then I will ……”

IF you want more of Him, joyfully respond to His ‘ifs.’

Here are just a few ‘IFs.’

2 Chronicles 7:14  IF My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Matthew 6: 14-15   “For IF you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But IF you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 6:24-25  Then Jesus said to His disciples, “IF anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

  1. I have a love/hate relationship with the word “if.” Your post is amazing at helping people to see that “if” should be followed by a “then,” which in turn is followed by a “do.”
