Monday Manna – How Can our Soul Boast in the LORD?

monday-manna3In May of 2008, I was meditating on Psalm 34: 1-3, when I came across an unusual phrase. ‘My soul shall make its boast in the LORD.’

How do I do this?  I wondered.

 Here is that line in context::

I will bless the LORD at all times;

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD;

The humble shall hear of it and be glad.

3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me,

And let us exalt His name together. NKJV

“Holy Spirit, what does this look like?  How can my soul boast?” I asked.

When your soul makes its boast in the Lord, it comes from your place of oneness—complete unity with Me.  That state of oneness stands out like a searchlight in the dark night.  It will look foolish to the unbeliever but the humble will see it and marvel at My Presence on you.  It will draw those who are hungry—full of questions in search of answers.

Your actions will look foolish to them because the boasting will come forth in a way that goes against the ways of the world.

To boast with your soul you will:

  • Love the unlovely
  • Give without thought of reward
  • Sing in places of adversity
  • Pray for those who persecute you
  • Choose to follow Me when it looks foolish
  • Persevere long after others have given up because of your love for Me and your faith in My faithfulness.

Your life will shine a light on the magnificence of the Lord.  Others will see and He will be exalted in their eyes too.

God’s greatest desire is to have a deep relationship with us, oneness.  The more we yield to Him in obedience and love, the more His life is manifest in and through us.  Others cannot help but see Him in our lives.  Let’s surrender our mind, will, and emotions to follow Him and our soul will also boast in the LORD.
