As I sat with the Lord this morning, I asked Him what word He wanted us to consider this week. Fear not, is what came to mind. So, let’s take a look at what God is saying when He tells us, “Fear not.”
There are many different words for fear in Strong’s concordance. Number 3372 is the type of fear most often used. It is found 314 times in the Old Testament and here is the breakdown: fear (188x), afraid (78x), terrible (23x), terrible thing (6x), dreadful (5x), reverence (3x), fearful (2x), terrible acts (1x), miscellaneous (8x). Blue Letter Bible.
In Hebrew, it looks like this:
yârêʼ, yaw-ray’; a primitive root; to fear; morally to revere; causatively to frighten:—affright, be (make) afraid, dread(-ful), (put in) fear(-ful, -fully, -ing), (be had in) reverence(-end), × see, terrible (act, -ness, thing).
When you look at each letter separately, this is what it means:
Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Picture: Hand. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand
Resh 200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head. Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience. (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)
Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Picture: An Ox Head. Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader
FEAR Not: The outcome or completion of something is in God’s right hand of supernatural power. He is your covering. Set aside your human reasoning and be obedient to what He tells you to do. If you do, you will have the strength and power of the Leader of the universe, God, to go through to victory.
Personalize – The outcome is in My right hand of supernatural power. I Am your covering. Set aside your human reasoning and be obedient to what I tell you to do. If you do, you will have My strength and power to go through to victory.
Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
11 “Behold, all those who were incensed against you
Shall be ashamed and disgraced;
They shall be as nothing,
And those who strive with you shall perish.
12 You shall seek them and not find them—
Those who contended with you.
Those who war against you
Shall be as nothing,
As a nonexistent thing.
13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’
Psalm 118:6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?
Psalm 27: 1-6
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
