Are you ready for Part 3? How many of you are buying gold after reading these blogs? Are you listening for Holy Spirit direction and putting it into practice? Are your priorities changing?
It’s easy to read blogs and books and watch YouTube videos and sermons, for inspiration. But only when we put God’s word into practice, do we reap a profit.
I have to smile—the verse posted on Bible Gateway today is:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
We are on task with Holy Spirit. He loves to leave markers along the way.
Let’s begin. Here is the scripture again that we are excavating.
I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. Revelation 3:18
Remember, this is the meaning of the word BUY: As believers, chosen in Him and set apart as holy. God gave us the Grace to receive Revelation from Holy Spirit about Life and how to live it. When we Pay Attention to Him, we experience Restoration and Jubilee.
And this is the meaning of the words OF ME: Even during Trial and Testing (if we are Paying Attention to Holy Spirit), we experience our Hidden Relationship in Christ. His word brings life, washing us clean and allowing Holy Spirit to Empower us to Complete the Work of God’s kingdom with Strength.
Now today, we will consider the word GOLD. What is this gold Jesus was telling the Laodiceans that they needed?
First of all, the Greek word gold used is Strong’s Concordance #5553 And it means:
1. gold, both that which lies embedded in the earth and that which is dug out of it
2. that which has been smelted and wrought
- a. of a gold coin
- b. of golden ornaments
- c. of precious things made of gold
This definition is likely what you expected. Gold means something made of gold. I decided to go to the Hebrew text and found this scripture in Malachi 3:2-3. It appears to be similar to Jesus’ words about gold tried in fire.
“But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire And like launderers’ soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the Lord An offering in righteousness.
Gold – Strong’s H2091 – zāhāḇ זָהָב
1. as precious metal
2. as a measure of weight
3. of brilliance, splendor (fig.)
זָהָב zâhâb, zaw-hawb’; from an unused root meaning to shimmer; gold, something gold-colored (i.e. yellow), as oil, a clear sky:—gold(-en), fair weather.
Now, digging deeper, here are the letters from left to right.
Zayin 7 = completeness, Perfection, Fullness. Means: Sword of the Spirit, Dagger, Weapon or Seed, to cut off, pierce, prune, or harvest
Hey 5 = Grace. Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention, unfold or look upon.
Bet/Vet 2 = Divide or Division Means: House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place (Temple) Son of God, physical tent or body.
The Meaning of Gold: Gold is manifest through (Zayin) the activity and power of God’s word piercing, pruning, sowing seed and bringing a harvest in our lives. (Hey) Revelation comes as we pay attention, hear, and follow, God’s word. His word draws us into a (Bet) deep family relationship with God in His Son.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Jesus bought us with the price of His earthly life sacrificed on the cross. Here are just a few of the treasures we received.
1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
Romans 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life..
Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
And there are many treasures. We will discover more next time when we look at what it means to be tried in the fire.
Men are buying physical gold these days to have it available when the economy falls. But Jesus is offering greater assets than monetary value. His riches are eternal regardless of the economy.
Re-read these scriptures and maybe search out some more riches Jesus bought for us as you get into His word this week.
Shalom ♥
You are such a woman/sister after God’s heart. I so relate to everything you write – we are very much in sync! Thank you
