This is part two of our treasure hunt into the phrase, “Buy OF ME gold tried in the fire,” from Revelation 3:18.

Here is the entire verse: Buy OF ME gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

Remember Jesus is talking to John about Laodicea—the lukewarm church that thought they were so rich. 

In part 1, we considered what the word Buy means in this scripture. Now we are going to look at this two-word direction–‘Of Me.’ Jesus is telling John to buy from Him. This seems pretty straightforward. These two little words couldn’t mean much—or could they? Let’s see. 

In Greek, it is Strong’s #3844 and it means –of, from, or with Me. (smile). 

So, I went to our Hebrew text and found this in Psalm 2:8  Ask OF ME, and I will give You The nations (heathen) for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

This scripture appears to be saying something similar. God the Father suggests that Jesus ask for the nations as an inheritance.

In Strong’s, Of Me in Hebrew is #4480 מִן And, it means: above, after, among, at, because of, by reason of, from, among, in, (out) of, over, since, × then, through, × whether, with. 

Then I went to Google Translator. Google writes it out this way: ממני

This is close to the #4480 translation so let’s look at the letters from right to left.

Mem 40= Trial, Testing, Tribulation. Means Womb, Water from the womb, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life, Mighty, Massive Chaos, Destructive Tsunami, Humility, taking the low place, hidden relationship with God, Cleansing water, flowing water, or Word of God that brings life. 

Nun 50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action

Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

During (Mem) trial and testing, you discover your (Mem) hidden relationship in Me. And (Mem) My Word brings life, washing you clean, and allowing (Nun) Holy Spirit to (Nun and Yod) empower you to complete (Yod) the work of God’s kingdom. 

During trial and testing, you experience your hidden relationship in Me. And My Word brings life, washing you clean, and allowing Holy Spirit to empower you to complete the work of God’s kingdom. 

We cannot go to Walmart, Amazon, Nordstrom, or Bloomingdales to purchase these treasures. They are only found In Him. We may be able to change our outward appearance with some high-dollar creations but only He can change our hearts. 

So, this is what we have so far: (BUY) As believers, chosen in Him and set apart as holy. We have been given the Grace to receive Revelation from Holy Spirit about Life and how to live it. When we Pay Attention to Him, we experience Restoration and Jubilee.

(Of Me) Even during Trial and Testing (if we are Paying Attention to Holy Spirit), we experience our Hidden Relationship in Christ. His Word brings life, washing us clean and allowing Holy Spirit to Empower us to Complete the Work of God’s kingdom with Strength. 

Ephesians 1:3-4 says, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.

And look at 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 in the Message Bible: Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking, right living, a clean slate, and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”

In these scriptures and others, God explains that it’s not our self-discipline or willpower but God’s gift to us of His Son that enables us to live a righteous life. We cannot duplicate the treasure we find in Him through any other source.
