Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. Psalm 91:14 NKJV
I can still remember my first crush. It was in second grade at Harding School…Michael. He had blonde hair and the bluest eyes. My heart skipped a beat every time he walked by.
For Valentine’s Day, I decided to create a special card for him. Carefully I folded a piece of white construction paper in half and pasted a red-colored paper heart on the front. On it, I wrote his initials and mine. Inside the card words about how cute he was and that I wanted to be his girlfriend.
The cards were all passed out and taken home without opening. I never received so much as a smile from Michael. I’d set my ‘love’ on him, but he wasn’t interested. My heart was shattered.
God is not like Michael or any other earthly ‘love.’ He does respond to our love and He loves us whether we respond to Him or not. He is love through and through.
One day He told me, “I cannot, not love you. I am love. It’s My DNA.”
(He also redeems…years later I met another handsome blonde haired, blue eyed Michael. We’ve been married 56 years.)
Let’s take a look at this verse and see what treasure is hidden. While David has been the speaker in previous verses, God is now doing the talking:
He has SET HIS LOVE is a phrase from Strong’s #2836 and it looks like this: (khaw-shak’); a primitive root; to cling, i.e. join, to bind, (figuratively) to love, delight in; elliptically KJV – have a delight, (have a desire, fillet, long, set (in) love.
= Chet 8 = New Beginnings. Means: Fence, Gate, or Tent wall – Separate, Protect, Cut Off
= Shin 300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit. Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.
Qof 100 = Election of God’s chosen ones, set apart as holy. Means: Holiness, Consecrated, Divide, sun on horizon, Back of the Head, Make a Complete Circle, End of a Cycle, Final, Behind, Dome
HE HAS SET HIS LOVE: Because we have completely Separated ourselves to God (Chet), completely Cutting off the enemy influence in our lives (Shin) and living in holiness as one of God’s chosen ones (Qof).
This scripture comes to mind: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
And here is God’s promise to those who set Him on Hight — I WILL DELIVER:
I will Deliver is Strong’s #6403 and it looks like this: It is a primitive root and it is pronounced ‘paw lat.’ It means to slip out, escape, to deliver, or carry away safe.
= Pey 80 = New governmental order. Means: Mouth, to Speak or Open, Beginning
= Lamed 30 = Blood of Messiah, Dedication. Means: Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue
Tet 9 = Judgment. Means: Choice, Basket, Snake, Surround or Twis
I WILL DELIVER: I (God) will exercise My authority (Lamed) and Speak that you are under New Government (Pey), My Authority, and I will Judge the enemy who is Twisting truth (Tet).
Once He delivers us He is going to remove us from the scene, but we will look at that in our next post.
~~~Journal Notes~~~
In January 2006, my husband and I went with a group from our church to help rebuild homes in Mississippi after hurricane Katrina. I was the head cook that week and Mike was on the repair team. When I got home, I sat down with Abba and shared my heart with Him.
“Lord, turn my eyes back on You. This week has exposed so many of my weaknesses along with my strengths. Help me to fall upon Your grace and not try to fix anything by my own efforts…Lead me back to the secret place with You.
“My grace IS sufficient for you. There is no shame in weakness. Turn to Me and live. My grace IS sufficient to deliver you, but you will always be aware of weakness. Apart from Me and My grace, you can do nothing of value. It is in weakness that you more fully recognize that anything you’ve done in strength has its source in Me.
Rest in Me. Quit beating yourself up and rejoice in My grace to deliver you. Rejoice in My love that is not fickle nor leaves you in times of weakness. My heart is forever toward you. Your strength from Me is made perfect in Your recognition of weakness, but dwell on Me and not on your weakness.”
The more we know Him, the more we love Him as He shows us His faithfulness to deliver over and over. There are so many things we cannot do that only He can. When we set our love and eyes on Him, He carries us through in strength.
We are strong IN THE LORD and in the power of HIS MIGHT.
More promises ahead–Keep going…
Shalom ♥
