God’s word is sure and He’s promised that if we make Him our dwelling place, He will keep the enemy at bay. This verse is pregnant with covenant blessings.

We will begin with EVIL:

No Evil is Strong’s #7451 from #7489 and it looks like this:   ‎ It is a primitive root and means to spoil by breaking to pieces, or to make (or be) good for nothing, bad physically, socially or morally.

When we look closer at the letters, we

= Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

= Ayin 70= Completion of time.  Means:  Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-good or bad (made of a Zayin and Yod—Word and Spirit)

EVIL: This word brings to mind Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Any ‘evil’ that comes against us is coming from the enemy of our souls and not the flesh and blood people we see involved. The people may have partnered with him, but he is the instigator.

Evil then, is the enemy, the one who thinks he is Most Important (Resh) and he thinks he can See and Understand everything (Ayin) when in comparison to our God, he is Insufficient (Resh).

David says, No evil shall BEFALL you.

Befall is Strong’s #579 and it looks like this:   It is a primitive root and it means to approach or to meet, to befall, deliver, happen, or seek a quarrel.

= Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader

= Nun  50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action

= Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)

BEFALL: Evil (the enemy) can’t overtake us because God, the Most Important Leader(Aleph) is protecting us with His Strength and Power(Aleph) and preserving our Life (Nun). And He is giving us Revelation and Grace (Hey) about what Action we need to take (Nun).

Now that sounds like a pretty solid security system to me.

Let’s go on to the promise–“Nor shall any PLAGUE come near your dwelling.”

Plague is Strong’s #5061 from #5060.  It looks like this: and it means a blow, a plague, a sore, stricken, stripe, stroke, wound.
And #5060, the primitive root means to touch, lay the hand upon; to reach, violently, to strike, punish, defeat, destroy, beat, plague, smite, or strike.

Now, this doesn’t sound like a virus does it?

Let’s look at the letters:
 = Nun  50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action

 = Gimmel  3= Divine perfection  Means: Camel, Generous Rich man, To Lift up, to Give, to Benefit, to Toil

= Ayin 70= Completion of time.  Means:  Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-good or bad (made of a Zayin and Yod—Word and Spirit)

All Hebrew words have negative and positive implications.  In the case of the word Plague, we must see it as negative.

PLAGUE: An Action (Nun) taken (by the enemy) may initially look beneficial (Gimmel) but in the end, it will Be Seen through the lens of the Spirit and the Word (Ayin) and be proven otherwise.

Nor shall any plague COME NIGH:
Come nigh is a phrase in Strong’s #7126 and it looks like this: It is a primitive root and it means to approach or to bring near.

= Qof 100 = Election of God’s chosen ones, set apart as holy. Means: Holiness, Consecrated, Divide, sun on horizon, Back of the Head, Make a Complete Circle, End of a Cycle, Final, Behind, Dome

= Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

 = Bet  2 =  Divide or Division  Means: House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place (Temple)

COME NIGH: We’ve been set apart as Holy unto God(Qof), and because of this, the Insufficient enemy who is pretending to be the Chief and Most Important person cannot Circle Round Behind us or our family to cause harm (Resh). God, the Chief Head (Resh), is there protecting us and all of His Family because we are His House (Bet).

Okay, let’s get to the last word, DWELLING:

Dwelling is Strong’s #168 from Strong’s #166 and it looks like this: ‎ And together these Strong’s number mean a tent, covering, home, or tabernacle. To be clear, or to shine.

The letters will tell us more:

= Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader

= Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)

= Lamed  30 =  Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue

DWELLING/HABITATION: Because we have made God (Aleph) the One we give attention to, and Him the One we follow (Hey), He gives us Revelation and discernment of the enemy (Hey) so we don’t fall prey to his Instructions or Urging (Lamed).

Now, that is a lot of treasure in one verse and it is so much more than sickness prevention.

In February 2006, I asked the Lord to show me where the key is in Psalm 91 for my marriage. “You’ve already shown me that my words are key,” I said.  “Now I’m hearing verses 9-10. ‘Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.’”

He responded: “Jesus said— ‘if you abide IN ME and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done for you.’ (John 15:7)  Another level of ‘say’ is that as you speak My words of love, encouragement, truth based in love, no evil shall befall you. The plans of the enemy to separate and destroy your marriage will be thwarted.

Abiding in Me is that complete surrender place where I am your supply for all things. What I say, you will say. What I do, you will do. Constant submission in love to Me. I am your Redeemer, the Restorer of the breach in your marriage and in your heart. Look to Me and live. Trust in yourself and watch havoc work its way into your home.

I am leading you to a place of dwelling in Me that you’ve dreamed of. It is here waiting for you. Trust Me to get you there.

You are already experiencing victory, but there is much more to come. I am not a god who lies. My words are true. You will stand together as one in My will. It will be glorious. You’ve only touched what I am about to do.

My ways are full of twists and turns. It keeps you from seeing direction so that you have to depend on Me. Otherwise, you would run to the goal before the circumstances are right and your victory would end in defeat.

Every twist, every turn equips you for the victory. Yes, you need to be equipped for victory. Without My equipping victory can be short-lived.

Trust Me continually. I am leading I am equipping. We will cross the line together—a threesome.”

His word is faithful. My husband and I are walking in its fulfillment.

Here are is the treasure we found in this verse:

Evil then, is the enemy, the one who thinks he is most important and he thinks he can see and understand everything when in comparison to our God, he is insufficient.

Evil can’t overtake us because God, the most important leader is protecting us with His strength and power and preserving our lives. And He is giving us revelation and grace about what action we need to take.

A plague is an action taken (by the enemy) that may initially look beneficial but in the end, it will be seen through the lens of the Spirit and the Word and be proven otherwise.

We’ve been set apart as Holy unto God, and because of this, the insufficient enemy who is pretending to be the chief and most important person cannot circle round behind us or our family to cause harm. God, the chief head, is there protecting us and all of His family because we are His house.

Because we have made God the One we give attention to, and Him the One we follow, He gives us revelation and discernment of the enemy so we don’t fall prey to his instructions or urging.
