A Priceless Gem Hidden in a Common Rock – Isaiah 53:2c – Focus 35

The deeper we dig into Isaiah 53, the more we discover that God loves to hide treasure in ordinary unassuming places.  When Samuel was sent to anoint David as king, and he was about to pour oil on one of David’s brothers, the LORD told Samuel:

“Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

The words form and comeliness are not part of our everyday language.  What is Isaiah telling us?  Here is the Hebrew spelling and definition:

The word FORM  looks like this:Form tôʼar, to’-ar; from Strong’s #8388 outline, i.e. figure or appearance:— beautiful, × comely, countenance, fair, × favoured, form, × goodly, × resemble, visage.

Tav 400 = the Outcome of Trial and Testing.  Picture: a Rough Cross.  Means: Cross, Covenant, Seal, Mark, a Sign, Ownership, Finished or Complete.

Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, FirstThe Strength and Power of the leader.

Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

The letters in the word FORM tell us is:

There was no Mark or Sign (Tav) in His appearance that He was God (Aleph).  No indication that He was the completed Covenant (Tav)  and Head (Resh) over all.

Alright, let’s move on to COMELINESS.  This is what it looks like in Hebrew: Comeliness

Its primitive root  is Strong’s #1921 and here is the definition: הָדַר hâdar, haw-dar’; a primitive root; to swell up (literally or figuratively, active or passive); by implication, to favor or honour, be high or proud:—countenance, crooked place, glorious, honor, put forth.

Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)

Dallet  4 =  Earth or creation.  Means: Door, Gate, Impoverished man, to come from indicates a pathway, a place of decision, or an entrance to life or death.

Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

When we put all of this together, COMELINESS means:

He was the Head (Resh) of all Creation (Dallet), the Door (Dallet) of Grace and Revelation (Hey) for every Impoverished man (Dallet).  He was the One who would give us His fullness and eradicate our Insufficiency and Poverty (Resh) forever.

Summary–

Thus when Isaiah wrote about this event 700 years in his future, he perfectly described the character and mission of Yeshua.  Here is the treasure we found today:

There was no Mark or Sign in His appearance that He was God.  No indication that He was the completed Covenant and Head over all Creation. He was the Door of Grace and Revelation for every Impoverished man.  He was the One who would give us His fullness and eradicate our Insufficiency and Poverty forever.

What He was then, He still is today. But In our world, He still remains hidden to many.  We, as His Body are called to re-present Him.

Spend some time this week asking Abba what He wants you to do to make Yeshua known.  Holy Spirit will provide all we need to do the work, we just need to be available.  Have a blessed week.  Shalom ♥
