Ever been in a season where nothing seems to be happening? Life is normal and predictable? It doesn’t feel like anything of value is going on in your life? Well, on just such a morning in April 2012, I was experiencing those thoughts and feelings.
As I sat with the Lord that morning, trying to think of how to pray, an inner vision began rolling. What I see is a huge ocean-liner. Inside I’m saying, “No, I want to see grass and trees, flowers and hills. But I trust You. You are my Shepherd.”
Without missing a beat, I heard Him say, “Lets’ go stand on the deck, Beloved. The wind is strong and the ocean is vast in all directions around us. No land in sight.
Do you see the sea, Beloved?
Yes, Lord. What do You want me to know? Understand?
That the sea appears to be endless, yet there are boundaries beyond your view—thriving trees, plants, food, shelter, just beyond the horizon.
Life sometimes looks like the sea—an endless, flat, colorless plane without hope of change. But don’t be fooled. I am Always leading you in triumph. Always. You are moving toward the shore–the promises are there in bold relief, tangible, trustworthy. My word is truth.
Enjoy the journey, Beloved. All is not lost. Life is not as it seems. Live without regret. Believe, trust, step out, just beyond the flat meaningless round of days lies a land of promise.
Taste and see that I am good and a rewarder of those who put their trust in Me. Just keep your eyes on Me and rejoice in each day, for each one holds promise—each and every one.
2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
