Hope you are enjoying this study as much as I am. Today let’s look at Song of Solomon 5:14: His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: His belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. We are going to dig into the first part of the verse:
Starting with His HANDS: This word is from Strong’s #3027 יָד yâd, yawd; a primitive word; a hand (the open one [indicating power, means, direction, etc.].
Surprisingly, the letters tell a similar story. Reading, from right to left:
Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand
Dallet 4 = Earth or creation. Means: Door, Gate, Impoverished man, to come from
The HANDS of our Bridegroom carry the Right Hand of God’s Power that Cover us and exercises Power over All Creation.
Now, we have looked at the word GOLD before, but this is a different Strong’s number. GOLD in this verse looks like this: And it is Strong’s #2091 זָהָב zâhâb, zaw-hawb’; from an unused root meaning to shimmer; gold, figuratively, something gold-colored (i.e. yellow), as oil, a clear sky:—gold(-en), fair weather.
(Just an FYI–in Hebrew, the same word can have several different Strong’s numbers. Therefore, if you are doing research, make sure you look up the word connected to the verse you are reading. Otherwise, you will not get the right understanding.)
The letters from right to left are:
Zayin7 = completeness, Perfection, Fullness. Means: Sword of the Spirit, Dagger, Weapon or Seed
Hey 5 = Grace. Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention –(at the end of a word: comes from letter before)
Bet 2 = Divide or Division Means: House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place (Temple)
His Hands are as GOLD, they carry the Sword of the Spirit, Revelation and God’s Torah (instruction) that we need to Pay Attention to. When we follow Him in obedience, we reflect Sonship in God’s Family His House.
I love this next word. RINGS comes from Strong’s #1550 and from primary root #1556 גָּלַל gâlal, gaw-lal’; a primitive root; to roll (literally or figuratively):—commit, remove, roll (away, down, together), run down, seek occasion, trust, wallow.
But the letters tell the story. Reading from right to left.
Gimmel 3= Divine perfection Means: Camel, Generous Rich man, To Lift up, to Give, to Benefit, to Toil
Lamed 30 = Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task. Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue
Lamed 30 = Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task. Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue
Our Bridegroom King has hands that work in Divine Perfection Generously lifting up and benefitting all who will heed His instruction, His Authority, and Word.
Here is our next word: SET (you will note this is the second time the word set appears in this brief portion of scripture of Song of Solomon 5:10-16, but it is a different Strong’s number) SET here, comes from Strong’s #4390 מָלֵא mâlêʼ, maw-lay’; or מָלָא mâlâʼ; (Esther 7:5), a primitive root; to fill or be full of, accomplish, confirm, consecrate, replenish, satisfy, set, space, etc.
Let’s look at the letters from right to left:
Mem40= Trial, Testing, Tribulation. Means Womb, Water from the womb, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life, Mighty, Massive Chaos, Humility, taking the low place, hidden relationship with God, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life.
Lamed 30 = Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task. Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue
Aleph1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First–The Strength and Power of the leader
SET: Through Trial and testing, our King humbled Himself and cultivated a Hidden Relationship with Abba and Holy Spirit. He dedicated Himself to obeying God’s word and Instruction. He became one with Him enabling Him to live in the Strength and Power of a Leader.
(Note: We have the same opportunity. Yeshua did this as a regular man and showing us we can do the same.)
The last word we are going to research today is BERYL:
It comes from Strong’s #8658 תַּרְשִׁישׁ tarshîysh, tar-sheesh’; probably of foreign derivation (compare H8659); a gem, perhaps the topaz:—beryl.
Reading from right to left we start with the last letter of the Hebrew alephbet. (yes, that’s how you spell it. 🙂
Tav 400 = the Outcome of Trial and Testing. Picture: a Rough Cross. Means: Cross, Covenant, Seal, Mark, a Sign, Ownership, Finished or Complete.
Shin 300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit. Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.
Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand
Shin 300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit. Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.
Putting this all together,
His Hands are as rings set with BERYL- He marks us with His covenant seal. His Fiery Zeal Overcomes the enemies of our soul–Human reasoning vs. obedience to God’s word. But, as we yield to His Hands, He brings Victory of Good over Evil.
Isaiah 49:14-16 also speaks of His hands, describing the price He paid for this covenant with Israel and with us as believers.
14 Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
