Today we are going to take a look at two words with the same root, Signs and Tokens.  We just experienced a full solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 and will experience another Sign on September 23, 2017 that mirrors Revelation 12.  In the meantime, we’ve had two huge hurricanes here in the United States of epic proportion.  Harvey and Irma and an 8.2 earthquake in Mexico.  God is trying to tell us something.  But what is it?

Let’s take a look at this word Signs:

The KJV translates Strong’s H226:  sign (s) (60x), token (s) (14x), ensign (s) (2x), miracles (2x), mark (1x).

   1. a distinguishing mark
   2. banner
   3. remembrance
   4. miraculous sign
   5. omen
   6. warning
2. token, ensign, standard, miracle, proof

Pronounced ‘oath’ –  probably from # 225 (in the sense of appearing); a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.:—mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token.

Here are some of the scriptures where we see this word used:

Genesis 1:14  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Matthew 16:3  And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Genesis 9:16-17  And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Exodus 12:13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Let’s look at the letters and see what God is doing here.  Why does He send signs?

   Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader

Vav  6 =  Man.  Means: Nail or Hook, to Secure, Pin together, Connect -Yeshua

   Tav 400 = the Outcome of Trial and Testing.  Picture: a Rough Cross.  Means:   Cross, Covenant, Seal, Mark, a Sign, Ownership, Finished or Complete.

Why is God sending us Signs and Tokens?:

Aleph, God in His strength and power as our Leader is using the signs to secure us or connect us or reconnect us with Yeshua/Jesus and who we are in Him.  Yeshua is the One who reconnected us with the Father by the nails He took for our sin.

And what is God reminding us about or reconnecting us to through signs and tokens?  He is reminding us of His covenant, His ownership of us and our need to return to Him.

The signs are clarion calls to Repent, as we talked about last time, and return to covenant with Abba.  To remind us that we no longer live, but that Christ lives in us and it’s all about Him now.  It’s not about our agenda or wants.  It is about God’s plan.  It’s an invitation to get back on track while there is time.

Let’s take a look at one last scripture:

Luke 21:25-28  “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. ²⁷ Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. ²⁸ Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

It is time for us to be watching the signs, listening to what God is saying and be obedient to what He is telling us.  Spend some time with Holy Spirit this week and ask Him for your part.
