Unto Us a Child is Born

Christ is born

Names in Hebrew are chosen with great care.  Parents believe that the name they choose points to the destiny of the child’s life, their character and their purpose.  God also was particular in declaring the names of His Son.

Isaiah 9:6 is a bold declaration and I’ve dug into each name to discover it’s treasure.  Hope you will join me for the next eight days and join in the celebration of our Savior.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Let’s begin with Child.  Sounds plain enough.  We all know what a child is, don’t we?

Let’s see.  The word ‘CHILD’ is #3206 in Strong’s Concordance

A masculine noun referring to a child, a young man.  It is commonly used to refer to a male child.

And it looks like this:

DalletLamedYod  Reading from right to left that is a Yod, Lamed, and Dallet.

Yod Yod  10 = the outcome, the completion of something.  Means: Hand, right arm, power, right hand of God’s power, a deed done, to work, to cover, allow, hollow, open hand.

Lamed Lamed  30 = Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, goad or stick, to teach or instruct, authority, to control, urge forward, a tongue.

Dallet Dallet  4=Earth or creation.  Means: door, gate, impoverished man, to come from

Thus in this first name, ‘CHILD,’ we can see (Yod) that God completed something with His Right Hand.  The ‘right’ hand or arm in scriptures refer to strength.

God opened His hand (Yod) and brought forth One Dedicated (Lamed) to Teaching and Instructing with Authority.  One who would Urge us Forward with the words He spoke.

This ‘CHILD’ would be a Door (Dallet) for all the Earth to come to God.

Hundreds of years later, Jesus declared in John 10:7-10

Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The ‘CHILD’ we celebrate today, was marked with great destiny that touches every human born to this earth.  Yet, even today, 2000 plus years later, there are many who have never heard His name.  Let’s live to make Him known.

Celebrate the Child today who grew to be the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Hope you’ll join me again tomorrow and we unearth the treasure of the ‘SON.’
