Lessons on Love from 1 John 4:16 – Lesson 3

Let My Love Transform You

(From my 2006 journals)

christ-in-me
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (I John 4:16  NKJV)

Lord, I come to see, to hear, to receive.  Open my eyes to see the wonders in Your word.

“I am in you.  Several months ago you asked why I chose to dwell in you and I told you, ‘because I love you and I want to transform you from the inside out.’

Beloved, we are one.  When you speak and think negatively about yourself, you are also speaking and thinking negatively about Me.

Remember, ‘whatever you’ve done to the least of these…you’ve done to Me.’  You are part of that ‘least of these’ group.

 Loving yourself is loving Me.

Accepting yourself and My acceptance of you is accepting Me.”

Lord, rewrite my inner dialogue toward myself and others.

“Speak tenderly to My daughter, My bride.  Tell her she is fearfully and wonderfully made, a priceless treasure that I uniquely created for My love.

The reason Paul could and did boast about his weaknesses was because he recognized that they were some of the most intimate meeting places for he and I.

Your weaknesses are not ugly to Me.  They are entryways for some of our richest times together, as you bring them to Me for transformation.

Again, pride must step back and in humility and vulnerability, you are able to accept My love more deeply.

What was My word to Paul?  ‘My strength is made perfect in weakness.’  The times when your weaknesses are submitted to Me are also the times for you to experience My greatest strength…My full expression of love.

Don’t fear or hesitate in admitting weakness.

Years ago I brought you into My throne room and all you felt was overwhelming love envelop you like warm oil.  You were covered in light and caught up in love so deep, so wide, there were no perimeters.  You couldn’t see Me, but you knew I was there loving, accepting, treasuring your presence.”

Yes, Lord, I’ll never forget it.

“Whenever you look My way for any reason, this is My response to you.  Come be washed in My love.  Drink deeply until every need is satisfied in Me.

Dwelling in love is living with the constant awareness of My unconditional eternal love for you and allowing that to empower you to fully and completely love yourself and others.

Studying and meditating on My Word are ‘light’ treatments to your soul.  I am the Word and as you remember to come freely to Me, in weakness and strength, the light of My presence will continue to transform you in My love.

There is no fear in love, Beloved

There is no shame in love.

I am closer than your next breath.  I see all, I know all, and I still love you completely.  Rest in My love.”
