In December 2019, I wrote these words. In this upside down world we have all been living in, I am re-posting for your reflection. May you be blessed.
Lord, give me the words to sing Your song.
Give me the words to tell Your story.
The wind blows cold rattling the windows and pushing through the gap under the doorway. The grey dismal world shows little signs of hope or warmth. Yet, now, in this season of colorless life, the Creator of all chose to strip Himself of every royal trapping, lay aside all privilege, knowledge, and in humility beyond all that we know, come to be like us, with us, not to be served, but to serve.
He deserved a King’s palace, but chose a stable. Lowly shepherds, the menial castoffs of society were His welcoming committee and P. R. team.
He could have come with lightning flashes and banging drums. Yet, an angel choir heard by this select few, announced His birth.
He came hidden. He came quiet, He came in surrender to walk the path God ordained in advance for Him.
In our world of superstar athletes, musicians, preachers, and politicians who push to be seen and to be known—billboards, internet ads, podcasts, live interviews, baited invitations—every avenue is used to draw attention and attendance. Instead, God whispered into the darkness birthing Light into the world.
He still whispers quiet, “Come to Me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me. My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
His yoke, the way life is to be lived in His Kingdom, is easy. Never rush, never be anxious, fearful or worried. Instead we are called to live as He did—listening for the Father’s voice and watching to see what God is doing. Then, in confidence of His leading, speak or move out and do what we hear and see.
We are His hands and feet. We are His messengers to deliver His love gifts, His answers to a world in need.
In this season gift giving, may we not forget the greatest Gift of all, Who came hidden, Who came quiet, Who stepped into our darkness and forever transported us into the Kingdom of Light. May we set aside all else and forever embrace this Gift of Life, Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach.
He sees you, He knows you, He is with you.
God bless each of you this Christmas and New Year. Shalom ♥
