Take Courage Joshua 1:9 – Part 4

Joshua 1:9 begins with God’s commands:

  • Be strong
  • Be of good courage
  • Do not be afraid
  • Nor be dismayed

Now, He follows up with this peace producing, faith-building promise:

“For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Note that LORD is capitalized.  Whenever you see it all in capitals it is referring to Israel’s sacred name for God, ‘Yehovah.’  Many of our Bibles say Jehovah.  There aren’t any J’s in Hebrew…that is a Greek rendition of His name.

God doesn’t send someone else to walk with Joshua, He promises that He Himself will accompany him.  That same promise is ours today.

Let’s start digging.

LORD is Strong’s #3068 and this is what it looks like: LORD   It is pronounced ‘yeh-ho-vaw’ and it means the self-Existent or Eternal God, the LORD.  It is the Jewish national name of God.

Let’s dust off the letters and see what we find:

Yod  Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand.

Vav  Vav  6 =  Man.  Pictograph: Nail or Hook. Means: Nail or Hook, to Secure, Pin together, Connect -Yeshua is our Vav

Hey Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention.Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)

Here is what it breaks down to for Joshua and for us:

(Yod) The Right hand of God’s power is (Hey) bringing Grace and Revelation through a (Vav) Man, Yeshua, who will Secure you and Connect you with God, which in turn will (Hey) bring more Revelation that you need to Pay Attention to.

Do you see that?  Yeshua was on the scene way back there in Joshua’s day, in fact He’s always been on the scene. 🙂

THY GOD are the next two words in this verse.  The name of God here is Elohiym and it can refer to ‘gods.’ In Hebrew, it is the one name for God that most Hebrew scholars want removed from their text because it is a plural word.  “The LORD our God is one,” is a phrase they recite daily and the whole idea of the Trinity doesn’t jive.  But let’s see what it means:

Thy God is Strong’s #430 and it looks like this: Elohiym and is pronounced ‘el-o-heem.’  And it is defined as plural gods in the ordinary sense; especially the supreme God.

Here are the letters from right to left.

Aleph  Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, FirstThe Strength and Power of the leader.

Lamed  Lamed  30 =  Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue.

Hey  Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention.

Yod  Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

CLOSED MEM  A closed Mem 600 = Means: Hidden Truth

We are blessed to know Elohiym…this is what His name means:

(Aleph) The unified power of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is with you to (Lamed) teach, instruct and move you forward as He speaks to you.  (Hey) He will give you grace and revelation that you need to pay attention to, for (Yod) His right hand of power covers you and fills you with (Closed Mem) hidden truth that will guide you.

Isn’t that wonderful?  No other god offers this promise, none.

Okay, let’s finish up the verse.

Is with you WHEREVER you go:

Wherever is Strong’s #3213, it is a primitive root and it looks like this: Wherever.  It is pronounced ‘yaw-lak’ and it is defined as to carry away, to bring, come away, depart, to follow, lead forth, march, prosper, cause to run or spread, etc. –many definitions for this word.

And here are the letters:

Yod  Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

Lamed  Lamed  30 =  Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue.

final KafFinal Kaf 500  Means: To Bend Down, Surrender, Palm of the Hand, Wing – Good works with our hand in Yeshua

What God is telling Joshua is this?

Wherever you go, I go too.  (Yod) My right hand of power will be manifest to cover you and do mighty deeds. (Lamed) I will teach, instruct and (Kaf) anoint you, as you surrender to My authority and ultimately, complete redemption will be seen in your lives.  You will live completely redeemed to My will and purpose.

Joshua 21:43-45 tells the end of the story:
So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.  NKJV

A quote I wrote down in 2016, came from Kris Vallotton’s blog: “The COURAGE of the silent righteous class in America is being awakened to take a stand for their convictions and to brave the spirit of intimidation.”  I’d say this quote is even more highlighted as truth for our day.

Also that year, God said to me, “You must trust Me. You must hang onto the promises I’ve given you. My timing is always perfect.  Momentum is being established and it will continue to grow as long as you don’t sidestep it with your own ideas and plans and logic.  Logic will not suffice in this season to come.

The field is ready and waiting for harvesters.  Will you go where I tell you, even though it looks barren?  Will you go if it looks uncomfortable and out of character for you?

Ask Me for eyes to see as I see.  Step out and know, that you go IN ME, not in your weakness, but in My strength. I’m giving you weapons of love and faith that will demolish the plans of the enemy.

It’s not logical.  It’s the Kingdom way. Keep your eyes on Me and I will lead you and I will be with you.”

Our plumb line for moving forward in faith is  “Trust God, not ourselves.”

From my journal notes–December 2012 “Courage always cuts a path for others to follow.  Courage takes the brunt of the assault, but also the sweetness of the victory more than any other.  Step out My courageous, victorious Bride.  I am with you and there is nothing to fear.”

It’s time for us to believe and live in the faith of what God’s already given us.  It’s time to choose.  Will we cower to the threats of the enemy or step out in faith and obedience to love and live as God directs?

This is the result that God promises:  God’s Kingdom in heaven will be fully manifest through true sons and daughters who grasp their oneness in His identity and completely move according to His will.

There is an old hymn we used to sing in church…

A charge to keep I have

A God to glorify

A stewardship for life to hold

A call to magnify.

God is waiting for our response.  Let’s take identity with the armor He’s given us, clothe ourselves with His love, and move forward in COURAGE TO TRUST AND OBEY.

May you be blessed as you meditate on this verse of instruction and promise from our God who is Faithful and True.

Here is the summary from what we’ve learned today:

The Right hand of God’s power is bringing Grace and Revelation through a Man, Yeshua, who will Secure you and Connect you with God, which in turn will bring more Revelation that you need to Pay Attention to.

The unified power of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is with you to teach, instruct and move you forward as He speaks to you.  He will give you grace and revelation that you need to pay attention to, for His right hand of power covers you and fills you with hidden truth that will guide you.

Wherever you go, I go too.  My right hand of power will be manifest to cover you and do mighty deeds.  I will teach, instruct and anoint you, as you surrender to My authority and ultimately, complete redemption will be seen in your lives.  You will live completely redeemed to My will and purpose.

Shalom ♥
