Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Psalm 91:8

(In case you are wondering why I use the King James Version to state the verse, here it is.  Strong’s Concordance is based on the KJV.  In order to look up the words, you need to know how the verse is written in King James. The cross-reference verses and quotes are from the New King James which has switched the ‘thee’s and thou’s to more modern text.)

Let’s take a look at this verse in the Amplified Classic, which I also love:

Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. Psalm 91:8 AMPC

Don’t you love that?

The thing that comes to mind when I read this verse is the story in 2 Chronicles 20 when God sent a praise choir before the little army of Israel to battle two huge armies. When they got to the battlefield they found their enemies already overcome by unseen forces. God fought the battle for them. But I am getting ahead of the story.

Okay, now for the piece by piece of this verse:

Only With Thine Eyes: is Strong’s #5869 and it looks like this:    It means an eye, a spring, or a fountain. It signifies the physical organ of sight.  Do you see that first letter?  God uses letters to define the words they are spelling.  This is so cool.

= Ayin 70= Completion of time.  Means:  Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-good or bad (made of a Zayin and Yod—Word and Spirit)

 = Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

= final Nun 700 = Completion Means: Life or Action

EYES: When the battle is Completed, we will See (Ayin) the result of God’s Powerful Hand (Yod) that took Action on our enemies (Nun).

THOU SHALT BEHOLD is next and it is Strong’s #5027.  It looks like this:   It is a primitive rood and it means to look intently, regard with pleasure, favor, or care.

= Nun  50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action

= Bet  2 =  Divide or Division  Means: House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place (Temple)

= Tet 9 = Judgment.  Means: Choice, Basket, Snake, Surround or Twist

SHALL BEHOLD: To Behold here means that we will see Life Restored (Nun) to God’s House (Bet) through the Judgment of God’s Choosing (Tet), and we will have a front-row seat to see what takes place in the lives of those who Chose to follow the enemy.

Our next words to uncover are AND SEE.  Together they are Strong’s #7200.  The two-word phrase looks like this:   It is a primitive root, and it means to see, literally or figuratively.

Here are the letters from right to left;

= Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

 = Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader

 = Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)

SEE: The ability to truly See comes from our Head, God. Our own head is often skewed with Human Reasoning (Resh). When we See through His(Aldph) eyes, we receive Revelation (Hey) of His Power at work in our lives.

David said we shall see the REWARD of the wicked.

While the word Reward begins with Strong’s #8011, the primitive root is #7999 and is the same root as the word Shalom or peace. Let’s look at the definitions and final outcome.

First #8011 is only used once in the Bible and it means reward.  But #8011 comes from #7966 which means retribution or recompense. And #7966 comes from the primitive root, #7999 which also means retribution, recompense or reward; to be safe, make an end, finish, make good, peaceable, prosperous, or restore.

#7999 looks like this:   Let’s see what the letters will tell us.

= Shin  300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit.  Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.

 = Lamed  30 =  Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue

   =  A closed Mem 600 = Means: Hidden Truth

Our REWARD will be to see the destruction (Shin) of the ‘Authority’ who was Goading us with his words and actions (Lamed) and God will reveal His Hidden Truth (Closed Mem). The lies will be uncovered. We will see the ultimate victory over evil and Restitution made.

THE WICKED is our last phrase and it is Strong’s #7563.  And it looks like this:   It is defined as morally wrong; a bad person, condemned, guilty, ungodly, wicked.

And here are the letters:

= Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

= Shin  300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit.  Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.

THE WICKED: We will see by the Word and the Spirit (Ayin) the enemies who have tried to activate our Human Reasoning (Resh) and destroy us with their lies and evil deeds (Shin).

Just remember in all of this:

“We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

People are not our enemies. They are being ruled and influenced by satan and his minions. Jesus counseled us in Matthew 5:43-44

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you…”

It was June 20, 2013. I returned home from being gone a week.  Family was coming for the weekend, so, I hit the ground running. There was so much to do and so little time to accomplish it. But first—I had to spend some time with my Creator:

As I settled into my prayer chair before I said a word, He said:

“Be still and know that I am God. Greater things are won by stillness than this world dreams of. It is My strength that enables you and it can only be accessed by leaning on Me. I call you to rest.

Look up. I will give you the strategy for every move. All your running will get you nowhere, but into confusion and burnout. The enemy loves to see you run and strive and worry.

Lay it all down, all of it. You can’t figure it out or manipulate the pieces to fit. Only I see the finished picture and only I know the order that the pieces must be placed.

You must walk with Me, in Me, to see the victory I have planned. Time with Me. Time in My word, with My Spirit–this, is your place of rest. This is your place of battle. Without the strategies of heaven, you are a warrior swinging wildly and your foe is just beyond your reach.

Stop, Look, Listen. I have plans for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. You must spend time with Me to receive the plans. I call you to REST.”

Then He gave me this acronym

R—receive
E—eternal
S—strategies for
T—triumph

Later that year, on December 20, 2013, He continued speaking to me about the battle:

“Do you hear My voice Beloved? I am calling out to those with ears to hear. Draw near. Draw nearer still. Closer, let me whisper in your ear.

Surprises are in store. What the enemy means for evil will turn him on his head.

My Body is being stirred. My Bride is rising. She’s heard the mocking voice of the enemy and like David she is picking up five smooth stones and taking her stand.

She will not use the ways of the world. Rest will be her weapon. Love will melt hearts of stone and truth will be her shield and buckler as she goes forth in My name to do My will.

It’s a day of reckoning and the enemy is pulling out all his arsenal to dissuade her from going forward. I have trained her hands for war. Her heart is steadfast toward Me and I will not disappoint.

In grace, the battle will be won. In grace, victory is sure. My grace is sufficient Beloved. Lean into grace.”

Thus we can see no matter how long or difficult the battle, if we stay in the Secret Place trusting in Him and obeying the things He places on our hearts, victory is assured.

The counsel He gave those 7 years ago still stand true today. His Love, Peace and Grace will see us through.
