We all like to see the physical results of our efforts or of God’s dealings. Here in verse seven we will see how He protects and defends us so we can finish our race in victory.

Psalm 91:7
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand;
but it shall not come nigh thee.

A THOUSAND is Strong’s #505 and it looks like this: A thousandIt is defined as a thousand or clan, a large number, extended family, or clan.

We start with the words, ‘a thousand.’ Notice in the definitions, however, it suggests that the word ‘thousand,’ that we see as a definite number, can also refer to just a large number or an extended family or clan. Given the understanding of the verses we’ve already covered, it could easily refer to our extended family members or our peers. Often they are the ones the enemy uses to lob attacks on us with their words.

David writes that a thousand SHALL FALL

Shall fall is Strong’s #5307 and it looks like this: Shall fall A verb meaning to fall, to lie, to prostrate oneself, to overthrow. KJV – be accepted, cast (down self,, [lots], out), cease, die, divide (by lot), (let) fail, (cause to, let, make, ready to) fall (away, down, -en, -ing), inferior, be judged

Nun= Nun 50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or action

Pey-Fey= Pey 80 = New governmental order. Means: Mouth or speak, open, or beginning

Lamed= Lamed  30 =  Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue

Let’s see where they fall and then put it together:

AT THY SIDE is Strong’s #6654  and it looks like this:   At Thy SideIt means the side or beside of any object.  But, as always, there is more to discover in the letters.

Tzade= Tzade 90 = Humility. Picture-Fishhook.  Means: Righteousness, to pull toward, Desire, Trouble, Harvest

Dallet= Dallet  4 =  Earth or creation.  Means: Door, Gate, Impoverished man, to come from indicates a pathway, a place of decision, or an entrance to life or death.

So, the phrase, “SHALL FALL AT THY SIDE” is David saying,

Action (Nun) will be taken to Restore God’s Order (Pey). God will Speak (Pey) in His Authority (Lamed), bringing them to a place of Humility (Tzade), helping them to see that they are Impoverished Men (Dallet).

But let’s hear the rest of the story.

TEN THOUSAND is Strong’s #7233 and it looks like this: Ten Thousand It means an abundance in number, ten thousand, a myriad, countless, great multitudes of people or things, or innumerable.

TEN THOUSAND: Again not necessarily a definite number, but countless numbers of people will fall at our right hand. But what does that mean?

AT THY RIGHT HAND is Strong’s #3225  and it looks like this: At Thy Right Hand And it is defined as the right hand or side (leg, eye) of a person or other object (as the stronger and more dexterous); locally, the south.

Here are the letters:

Yod= Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

Mem =Mem 40= Trial, Testing, Tribulation.  Means Womb, Water from the womb, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life, Mighty, Massive Chaos, Humility, taking the low place, hidden relationship with God, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life.

Yod= Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

Final Nun= (final)Final Nun  700 Means: Life or Action

AT THY RIGHT HAND: Wherever scripture indicates the ‘right hand,’ it is referring to God’s supernatural power and strength (Yod) vs. our own power (left hand). In this case, we can say:

Those who have been goading us with their Words, will end up humbled (Mem) in God’s right hand of power (Yod).  Often times God will use this moment of reality to minister life (Nun) to them. Our God is all about redeeming and everything He does is to bring restoration and redemption (Final Nun).

Okay, let’s close this verse out.

SHALL NOT COME NIGH THEE:

This phrase is Strong’s #5066 and it looks like this: shall not come nigh It means to come near, to approach, to draw near, to bring near, to be brought near for any purpose.

The letters will tell us more.

Nun = Nun  50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action

Gimmel =  Gimmel  3= Divine perfection  Means: Camel, Generous Rich man, To Lift up, to Give, to Benefit, to Toile.

Shin= Shin  300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit.  Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.

SHALL NOT COME NIGH THEE: They will be unable to take Action or Retaliate against us (Nun) because God will use His Fiery Zeal to hold them in check (Shin).
God does this for our benefit but also for theirs (Gimmel). It keeps them from entering into more sin and judgment.

God is love, even in the midst of the battle.  Look at all the ways He expresses it in my journal notes. To those who walk with Him and, yes, even to those who are ‘kicking against the pricks,’ God’s love shine through. (Acts 9:5) We have a good, good Father.  He loves us, defends us, remolds us, pursues us, and draws us to Him.

~~~Journal Notes~~~
In January 2008, I was asking the Lord about love.  Here is what He told me:
“Love isn’t about striving to do. Love is about looking to Me and living. All your self-defenses fall away when your eyes are on Me. Your need to combat and confront falls to the ground when you see My love face to face. Love dismantles the anger. Love melts cold hearts. Love covers and comforts. Love forgives and delights in being forgiven. Love is not rational. Love is relational. It moves beyond self and surrenders to serve others. It sees from their shoes. It speaks to their heart, not to their head. It discovers the truth in listening, not in arguing. It is easily entreated, slow to anger, abounding in mercy. It is always looking for ways to bless rather than curse.
Love is Who I AM. Who you are when you are one with Me. We are becoming one. The cry of your heart is being answered. You too will experience the heights of My joy and the depths of My pain in knowing Love—My Love. For it isn’t all warm and fuzzy—sunshine and flowing brooks. Love rages in the storms as well. Love fights the battle for souls and they don’t always yield. It’s their choice, yet the pain is not any less.
We will experience it together. Remember we are one. I will sustain you through the pain and celebrate with you every victory. There are many victories to be celebrated.
Joy is not the absence of sorrow. Joy is knowing I am present and regardless of the circumstances, I am full of Love for you and all you meet. Joy is knowing Me and knowing I am ever with you. Nothing can take you from Me. Nothing.”
~~
If you are in the midst of a battle, hang on.  Don’t quit until the miracle happens.  The hearts of the ones you are praying for may not appear to change.  Their circumstances may even get worse. But your relationship with Him will grow stronger and forever change you. It will lift you above your enemies and give you joy even while the battle still rages.
We will finish out this battle scene next time with the reward of the wicked.  Have a blessed day in Him.
Shalom ♥
