Good morning from the Secret Place. David wrote an interesting description of God’s care when he wrote, “He shall cover you with His feathers” Psalm 91:4a.

When I first read this piece, the immediate question was, “How can God have feathers? What on earth is He talking about?”

Down filled jackets and comforters are the lightest warmth known. The first time I ever sank into a down filled bed was during a visit to a friend’s home in Seattle. Pristine white coverlets lay with airy splendor under a canopy of lace. Downy pillows nestled at the headboard. It was a bed for a princess and I drifted off to sleep without effort. Those memories still linger.

Surely, the feathers have something to do with comfort. Right?

Let’s find out.  We will start with the word COVER.  Now we all have an idea of what this word means, but there are layers in Hebrew to discover.

COVER is Strong’s #5526 and it is a primitive root.  In Hebrew it looks like this:   The Strong’s definition is to hedge, fence about, shut in, to block, overshadow, screen, stop the approach, shut off, cover, lay over, or weave together.

Taking the letters separately from right to left:

= Samekh  60 = Pride, Conceit, Earthly.  Means: To Lean Upon, a Prop or Aid, Hold, Assist or Support  – the heart of God

= Kaf 20 = Anointing of the hand on the head, Redemption.  Means: To Bend Down, Surrender, Palm of the Hand, Wing – Good works with our hand in Yeshua

= Final Kaf 500 = Anointing of the hand on the head, Redemption.  Means: To Bend Down, Surrender, Palm of the Hand, Wing – Good works with our hand in Yeshua

 To be COVERED means —When we lean upon God(Samekh), look to Him to help us, and surrender our ideas and agenda and submitting to His (Kaf), He covers us in His heart(Kaf).

To be covered in this way is not only comforting, but it is also ultimate protection and peace.

On July 1, 2006, God spoke an interesting word to me about covering.  It goes right along with this scripture and is applicable to all of us.

“I am preparing you for burial. Complete surrender means complete death to your own agendas and desires, strengths and all must die in order for complete surrender to occur.”

Lord, what must I do?

“Allow death to occur. Don’t fight it. Complete surrender comes piece by piece until it’s complete. “It is finished,” the words I spoke on the cross, were an end of a long chain of events where I surrendered My will for My Father’s will over and over. There is a joy to be discovered in every step of surrender.”

“Joyful abandon is part of the surrender process. It’s the adventure of looking for things to hand over, knowing with every relinquishment, you come closer to Me and to My purpose. It’s a scavenger hunt in the Spirit.”

Lord, what can I surrender to You today?

“Surrender your need to be in charge. Look for ways to hand over control, then let go joyfully.”

Are you ready to hand over control?  Before you answer, let look at FEATHERS.

FEATHERS is Strong’s #84 and it looks like this:   It is defined as a noun meaning feathers or wings.

 ‎Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it)   Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader

 Bet  2 = Divide or Division   Means: House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place (Temple)

 Resh  200 = Insufficiency, Poverty.  Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience.  (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

Hey  5 = Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)

FEATHERS-He covers us with His strength and power(Aleph). We become one with Him, in His house, part of His family(Bet) who is head over all things(Resh).  And since He is head of the house, when we receive revelation from Him, we need to pay attention(Hey).

It was July 12, 2012, when He spoke these words to me.  May you be blessed and receive them for yourselves.

“Peace Beloved, Peace. Sink down into My will. Rest in My hands. Your times are in My hands. Really. Learn to turn your ears to hear My voice and your eyes to see Me. I am never in a hurry. I make all things work together perfectly like a fine watch. No winding necessary. Precision watchmanship. Sequenced rhythm, consistent forward motion.”

“Pause and calmly consider what I’ve just said.”

“The face remains fixed as the hands move around and around. Fix your eyes on Me and let Me move the circumstances and influences as I see fit. I will not skip a beat or delay My movement forward. Regardless of how it appears I AM leading you in triumph. There are triumphs along the way that you may or may not see. But instead of wearing down, you are gaining strength. You will run and not be weary. You will walk and not faint. Your are rising up on eagles wings.”

“Soar Beloved, Soar. You haven’t seen anything yet.”

Let’s ask God what we can surrender to Him today. Let’s sink down into His love and provision and receive the strength He wants to give us, so we can soar with Him.
