Good morning. I was reading Psalm 34 this morning and verse 8 stood out to me. “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Holy Spirit highlighted the word ‘trusts.’ Since I’ve never dug into this word in Hebrew, I pulled out my Strong’s and got to it.
Trusts: #2620 in Strong’s – to flee to for protection, to hope, make refuge, confide in.
It is spelled with a Chet, Samekh, and Hey.
Chet: 8 – New beginning. Chet means: Fence, Gate, Tent wall, to separate, protect or cut off.
Samekh: 60 -Pride , conceit, earthly. Samekh means: to lean upon, to prop, aid, assist, support, the heart of God.
Hey: 5 – Grace. Hey means: Revelation, to give attention to
So, one who ‘trusts’ is giving attention to the things God reveals. He is leaning upon God and His heart for support. And God is separating him and protecting him.
FYI – faith in Hebrew is defined as ‘trust.’
