In December of 2005, I was meditating on Psalm 91:11-12  “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.  In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.”

“Lord,” I asked. “As I look this up I see it’s more than a literal stubbing of a toe, it has to do with tale-bearing and slander that one would be struck by keeping me from doing Your will, or tale-bearing that one would strike another and destroy or delay the building of a relationship.  Lord, what does this mean for me?”

I have a plan and the angels are My messengers, My assistants in helping fulfill that plan.  When they see you start to slip with your words or actions to things that would destroy the building of relationship or ministry or needed change, etc., in line with My will, they catch you up.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, they turn you in another direction and help you see with a different perspective, keeping you from destroying the very thing you and I are building.

Sometimes, with My direction, they allow the words to be spoken to bring you a revelation of your own heart, but then they carry you to Me where you gain the courage to confront and confess your sin and begin again. 

My angels are messengers of grace.  They carry you in My will and protect you while the Holy Spirit teaches and corrects your vision– of yourself–of Me—and of others.  They are ministering spirits of righteousness.  Their work is to protect and defend you in your walk with Me.

Righteousness is elusive and yet, they return you to My cross over and over again to experience My gift of righteousness to you.  It’s not about you and what you do or not do.  It’s about Me and your believing in what I did and Who I am.

Notice it says that they bear you up—they hold you up to see ME.  To see My love for the one you are speaking against.  To see My love for you despite your wounded heart that spews out words to defend, to elevate and justify self.

One look at Me and all conversation stops.  Your heart is quickened again to My will and My ways.  Bitterness and fear leave in the light of My truth.

Angels are ministering spirits of righteousness, attending to those who are seeking to do My will but are still battling with the weaknesses of their own flesh. 

“So, the angels not only physically protect us but they save us from ourselves and carry us to You, Who spiritually renew us.  Is that right?”

Yes, that’s right.  Angels are more than commandos, they are also gentle messengers of My love, carrying messages of truth and direction that ever lead you to see My love more clearly for yourself and others.

When you see angels, they are either there to protect, to reveal truth, or to minister grace, giving you strength beyond your own to do My will.

When Gabriel came to Mary, he came bearing truth, but also in sharing the truth, He released grace for Mary to walk in My will.

In the future, you will see angels with you.  Their visible presence will remove all fear from you and give you the grace to do My will.  They will assist you in My will and make a way for you in dark places where only My Spirit can go.  You will go there without fear because you will see the angels there in force.  Your eyes will be opened like Elisha’s servant and all fear will leave you.  You will be led in faith to do My will just as you are praying now.  It will be glorious.

Don’t give place to doubt.  Believe and you will see the reward of the wicked and the total deliverance of the captive.  There is NO CHAIN I CANNOT BREAK.  NO life I cannot SAVE.  All it takes is choice.

Angels are real.  They are commissioned to help believers fulfill God’s destiny for their lives and for the Kingdom.  Take some time to thank God for His angels.

Hebrews 1:13-14  But to which of the angels has He ever said: “Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool?”  ¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

Psalm 103:20 Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
