As a child, faced with the neighborhood bully, you may have said, “You’d better back off. I’m going to tell my daddy. My daddy is bigger than you.”
As Christians we can say, “My Daddy, My Abba, is bigger and stronger than anything or anyone in heaven or earth, or under the earth. My Abba, is God Almighty!” We truly have nothing to fear, ever.
The first time God refers to Himself as God Almighty is in Genesis 17:1 and in November 2012, Holy Spirit woke me up quoting that verse:
I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. KJV
I wanted to see what the New King James said: “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. NKJV
He went on to tell me: I am God Almighty-the powerful invincible God, walk before me and be blameless—walking in obedience comes from faith.
Are you listening? Are you listening? I am speaking in a myriad of ways. Those who have ears to hear will hear. Having ears to hear is more than the ability to hear sound, to hear My voice. Having ears to hear requires a heart ready to act on what I speak. Faith without works is dead.
Don’t be like those with itching ears, ever seeking to hear but reluctant to act. My ways are not your ways. I will call you to do things contrary to your logic, your comfort, your resources. Yet, when I speak, I speak with every need supplied in the ready for you to draw.
I told Noah to build a boat for a coming flood when the land had never seen rain.
I told Joshua to march in silence for seven days around a fortified city and when they obeyed by shouting, the walls fell down.
I told the disciples to feed the 5,000 with 5 loaves and a few fish.
Ears to hear require obedience by faith.
I am Almighty God. Walk before Me and act in faithful obedience. We are one. In Me you live and move and have your being. Oneness requires obedience.
Are you listening? Are you ready to act? Fear not, I am with you. You will never be alone. All of the resources of heaven and earth are at your disposal as you move in response to My word. Listen with ears to hear, for I AM is with you.
Trying times ahead… When I went to my Bible to look at trying times, this phrase came: “These are the times that try men’s souls.”
It wasn’t a Bible verse so I Googled it and found it was a Thomas Paine quote.
“These are the times that try men’s souls, yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.”
― Thomas Paine, Works of Thomas Paine
Trying times, yes. But we have God Almighty with us, in us.
Later in Genesis 35:11 God said to Abraham: “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.
God Almighty specializes in the impossible.
Moses made this reiterates God’s power in Exodus 15:3-12 The Lord is a man of war; The Lord is His name. 4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. 5 The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone. 6 “Your right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed the enemy in pieces. 7 And in the greatness of Your excellence You have overthrown those who rose against You; You sent forth Your wrath; It consumed them like stubble. 8 And with the blast of Your nostrils The waters were gathered together; The floods stood upright like a heap; The depths congealed in the heart of the sea. 9 The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, My hand shall destroy them.’ 10 You blew with Your wind, The sea covered them; They sank like lead in the mighty waters. 11 “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders? 12 You stretched out Your right hand; The earth swallowed them.
And in Deuteronomy 3:24, Moses declared: ‘O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds?
