We covered the first part of this verse last week and we will finish it this week: His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: His belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. Song of Solomon 5:14b

We start with the word BELLY:   Strong’s #4578 מֵעֶה mêʻeh, may-aw’; from an unused root probably meaning to be soft; used only in plural the intestines, or (collectively) the abdomen, figuratively, sympathy; by implication, a vest; by extension the stomach, the uterus (or of men, the seat of generation), the heart (figuratively):—belly, bowels, × heart, womb.

Reading from right to left are the following letters:

Mem 40= Trial, Testing, Tribulation.  Means: Womb, Water from the womb, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life, Mighty, Massive Chaos, Humility, Taking the low place, Hidden relationship with God, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life.

Ayin 70= Completion of time. Means: Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-Good or bad.  (This letter is made out of a Zayin and a God — Word and Spirit)

Hey 5= Grace.  Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word—it comes from the letter before.)

When we put the meaning of these letters together, we discover some interesting attributes about our Bridegroom King:

From His Hidden Relationship with God, He Sees and Understands our circumstances by the Spirit and the Word.  From that Understanding He brings Revelation we need to pay attention to.

Our next word is BRIGHT: Strong’s #6247 from the primary root #6245    עָשַׁת ʻâshath, aw-shath’; a primitive root; probably to be sleek, i.e. glossy; hence (through the idea of polishing) to excogitate (as if forming in the mind):—shine, think.

That’s the definition, but when we look at the letters there is a much deeper and more powerful meaning:

Ayin 70= Completion of time. Means: Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-Good or bad.  (This letter is made out of a Zayin and a God — Word and Spirit)

Shin 300= Victory of good over evil.  Holy Spirit.  Means: Teeth, Fire, The Fiery Zeal of God to consume all His enemies, to Devour, Destroy Something sharp. 

Tav 400= the Outcome of Trial and Testing.  The Paleo Hebrew picture was a rough cross.  Means: Cross, Covenant, Seal, Mark, a Sign, Ownership, Finished or Complete.

The word BRIGHT indicates that ourKing Sees and Understands us by the Word and the Spirit and His Fiery Zeal Destroys our enemies. Through Trials and Testing He Bring us into Covenant with Him and Seals us to Him.

IVORY is our next word and it looks like this: It is Strong’s #8127 from the primary root #8150   שָׁנַן shânan, shaw-nan’; a primitive root; to point (transitive or intransitive); intensively, to pierce; figuratively, to inculcate:—prick, sharp(-en), teach diligently, whet.

Reading from right to left the letters are:

Shin 300= Victory of good over evil.  Holy Spirit.  Means: Teeth, Fire, The Fiery Zeal of God to consume all His enemies, to Devour, Destroy Something sharp.

Bet 2= Divide or Division.  Means:  House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place, (Temple)

Final Nun. 700= Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action

Not only does His Zeal bring Destruction to our enemies, it Brings us Restoration and New Life.

Now let’s finish up this verse with the last two words.  OVERLAID Is Strong’s #5968  עָלַף ʻâlaph, aw-laf’; a primitive root; to veil or cover; figuratively, to be languid:—faint, overlaid, wrap self.

From right to left:

Ayin 70= Completion of time. Means: Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-Good or bad.  (This letter is made out of a Zayin and a God — Word and Spirit)

Lamed 30= Blood of Messiah, Dedication to a task.  Means: Staff, Goad or Stick, to Teach or Instruct, Authority, to Control, Urge Forward, a Tongue

Final Pey 800= New Governmental Order.  Means: Mouth, to Speak, Open or Beginning.

This is the third time Ayin appears in this verse and it speaks of Him Seeing and Understanding us.  Just the fact that it repeats three times highlights the significance of His watchcare.

We can say that OVERLAID reveals:

As He Sees and Understands us by the Word and the Spirit, He Urges us Forward by Speaking, Teaching and Instructing us in the ways of His New Governmental Order. 

And now the last word, SAPPHIRES:This word is Strong’s #5601 from the primary root #5608    סָפַר çâphar, saw-far’; a primitive root; properly, to score with a mark as a tally or record, i.e. (by implication) to inscribe, and also to enumerate; intensively, to recount, i.e. celebrate:—commune, (ac-) count; declare, number, penknife, reckon, scribe, shew forth, speak, talk, tell (out), writer

Samech 60= Pride, Conceit, Earthly.  Picture: A tree propped up by a piece of wood.  Means” To Lean Upon, a Prop or Aid, Hold, Assist or Support – The heart of God.

Pey 80= New Governmental Order.  Means: Mouth, to Speak, Open or Beginning.

Resh 200= Insufficiency, Poverty.  Means:  Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)

Finishing up this verse, the word SAPPHIRES shows us that He has the Heart of God and because He does, He is constantly Speaking to us about His New Governmental Order (based on Love and not Striving). This Truth overcomes our Human Reasoning and leads us to an attitude of Obedience to God’s will. 

SUMMARY

From His Hidden Relationship with God, Our Bridegroom King Sees and Understands our circumstances by the Spirit and the Word.  From that Understanding He brings Revelation we need to pay attention to.

As He Sees and Understands us His Fiery Zeal Destroys our enemies. Through Trials and Testing He Brings us into Covenant with Him and Seals us to Himself.

Not only does His Zeal bring Destruction to our enemies, it Brings us Restoration and New Life.

Through His Understanding of us and our need,  He Urges us Forward by Speaking, Teaching and Instructing us in the ways of His New Governmental Order. 

He shows us that He has the Heart of God and because He does, He is constantly Speaking to us about His New Governmental Order (based on Love and not Striving). This Truth overcomes our Human Reasoning and leads us to an attitude of Obedience to God’s will. 

Instead of a King that rules with brute force and arrogant pride, our King walks with us and knows our hearts.  He leads us in love to become all He created us to be.  I will be fixing my eyes on Jesus Christ this week and trust you will too.
