Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no VISION the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” But what is VISION? An idea, a goal, something you can see? Let’s look at the Hebrew and see what God means when He talks about Vision.
VISION is #2377 in the Strong’s Concordance: a sight (mentally), i.e. a dream, revelation, or oracle:—vision.
And here is the Hebrew:
The word VISION can deal with supernatural revelation or being able to see with our spiritual eyes.
Chet 8 = New Beginnings. Means: Fence, Gate, Tent wall to Separate, Protect, Cut off. Torah – God’s word
The letter Chet looks like two poles with a cross piece. It looks like the curtains around the perimeter of the wilderness tabernacle. Those curtains marked an enclosed place of safety and protection to meet with God. The letter Chet is also equated with the Torah or God’s Word that provided boundaries for living life with God.
Acts 17:28 says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being.” In Him, the Word made flesh. In Him the Living Word — the Living example of how the Word operates, we live and move and have our being. The entire Tabernacle from the smallest detail to the largest is a picture of Yeshua.
So Chet is a wall of His Word that separates and protects us.
Zayin 7 = completeness, Perfection, Fullness. looks like a dagger Means: Sword of the Spirit, Dagger, Weapon or Seed
Vav 6 = Man. Picture: Nail or Hook. Means: to Secure, Pin together, Connect or bridge -Yeshua Jesus was the nail God used to reconnect us with God.
Nun is the #50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action
Why does Nun refer to Holy Spirit? It’s the number 50. The Holy Spirit came on Pentecost. The word Pentecost means 50. Holy Spirit came 50 days after the Feast of First Fruits–the Day of Resurrection.
In ancient Hebrew a Nun looks like a sprouting seed or a sperm with a tail.
PUTTING IT ALTOGETHER: VISION: Is a Word from God that Separates and Protects us (Chet). It Cuts through something by His Spirit (Zayin) and reconnects us with God (Vav) and brings life. (Nun)
So whether we see visions, dream them, or hear them, they should align with God and His Word, cut through our worldly understanding by His spirit and realign us with God and bring life to us.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
A Warning about vision:
Jeremiah 23:16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.
We live in a day where there are many bringing deception and saying it is truth. Many say they have a Vision from the Lord, but it doesn’t meet the criteria God sets here. We must test the words and visions against the Word of God and by His Spirit.
