And His Name Shall be Called Counselor

counselor
Today we are going to look at the fourth name mentioned in Isaiah 9:6.
“And His name shall be called Counselor…”
What is a Counselor in God’s eyes? Let’s look at it through Hebrew glasses and see it’s meaning.
The name Counselor in this verse is #3289 in Strong’s Concordance.  It sounds like this: ya-ats.  The first ‘a’ is short as in awe.  The second like the word ‘at.’
It is a verb meaning to advise, to consult to counsel, to be advised, to deliberate, to conspire, to take counsel.  The verb also means to decide or make plans or decisions.
Here is what it looks like in Hebrew: TzadeAyinYod
Yod Yod  = 10 The outcome, the completion of something. Meaning: Hand, Right Arm, Power.  Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, to Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand.

Ayin Ayin = 70 Completion of Time.   Meaning: Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen.

Tzade Tzade = 90 Humility.  Meaning: Righteousness, a Fishhook, to Pull Toward, Desire, Trouble, Harvest.

Putting this all together, COUNSELOR declares more of Yeshua’s destiny. In Hebrew it means: (Yod) God completed something with His Right Hand.  The ‘right’ hand in scripture refers to God’s supernatural strength. So, God Opened His Hand and (Ayin) brought forth One we could See and Experience in the Completion of Time.  He brought forth One who was (Tzade) Humble, Righteous and One who would Counsel and Advise us and enable us to bring Harvest for the Kingdom.

Here are some scriptures supporting this:

Luke 2:43, 46-47 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

Matthew 7:28-29  And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

John 7:15  And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”

I Corinthians 1:30-31 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

Colossians 2:3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

We have the blessed privilege to receive Counsel from the Wisdom of the ages.  Wonder why we don’t always look to Him first?

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

If you need some advise today, His line is always open and He is waiting to answer.  🙂
