2 Chronicles 7:14 Unpacked-Part 3

2Chronicles 7_14c

When I began this search, I really thought God was taking me here to highlight the four ‘ifs’:

  • If you will humble yourself
  • If you will pray
  • If you will seek My face
  • If you will turn from your wicked ways

I set myself up for a spanking…but instead, in the last few days before speaking, I saw He had a different goal in mind.

That morning He just began bringing one scripture after another to mind.

Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

Jeremiah 33:3
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Ephesians 1:22-23
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Colossians 2:9-10
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

He was reminding me of our identity and our purpose in the world.

I was preparing a sheet with all the bottom lines and asked Him what His bottom lines were. He said:

“ You are Mine. I have fashioned each of you with such care. No two of you alike. No two of you with the same purpose or plan. Yet I dwell inside each of you so your potential to fulfill your purpose and plan is unquestionable.

You are My Body in this world. The fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. All of heaven responds to prayers and declarations of My children, those called by My name.

This is your assignment.  It is possible, beyond all that you can imagine, this country can be turned around. Don’t let the enemy convince you otherwise. My heart is to bless and restore. Will you walk with Me in this?”

You see, the future of our nation depends on how we respond to this call. This is not a call to our politicians, or the abortionists, or the LGBT people, or any other group.  This is OUR call.

Then He prompted me to go back and read 2 Chronicles 7:14 in context, what led up to these words and what followed.

Solomon was chosen to build God’s Temple.  The work was finished and now it was time to dedicate the Temple.  Solomon went before God in prayer.  This is part of his prayer:

2 Chronicles 6:18-19, 36-40 “But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! 19 Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You…

36 “When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to a land far or near; 37 yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have committed wickedness’; 38 and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captive, and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and toward the temple which I have built for Your name: 39 then hear from heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You. 40 Now, my God, I pray, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears be attentive to the prayer made in this place.

2 Chronicles 7:1-3  When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. 3 When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, and His mercy endures forever.”

Then, after the festivities, when all the people were gone, God spoke:

2 Chronicles 7:12-13  “Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, …”

God already knew they were going to turn away from Him and He already prepared a way back.  And what was His way?

2 Chronicles 7:14If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Then He said,  “15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”

So you see, this is OUR assignment as His children.  Nobody else can fulfill it.  We have all of heaven at our disposal, IF we respond to the call.  It is time….God is waiting.

My hope is that you are being blessed and motivated to act.  Please pray for our nation so that God’s Kingdom will be seen in our country and around the world.

Shalom
