What is the Belt of Truth? Armor of God-Part 2

eph-6-14-girded-with-the-truth-and-breastplate-of-righteousness

As I told you yesterday, putting on the armor of God is different than putting on military protection. Today we will begin our piece by piece look at what God is asking us to wear.

The first piece of armor is the Belt of Truth.

In our world of fake news, opinions, and so much deception, truth is a difficult commodity to come by. Yet, it is part of the armor.

What does it mean to gird your loins with the truth? Our loins are in the lower region of our back–the lumbar area, our hips, and reproductive organs. Weight lifters wrap a tight belt around this area when they want to exert or display strength.

What does God’s word say about Truth?

So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free. John 8:31-32 AMPC

Jesus said to him (Thomas), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:5-6

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light  9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),  10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. Ephesians 5:8-10

Let’s take a quick look at what the word Truth means in Hebrew.  The word most often used for truth is Strong’s #571 and it looks like this: Truth

The Strong’s definition is firmness, faithfulness, reliability, of divine instruction, ethical or religious knowledge.

But what do the letters mean? Reading from right to left the letters are:

Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, FirstThe Strength and Power of the leader

Mem 40= Trial, Testing, Tribulation.  Means Womb, Water from the womb, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life, Mighty, Massive Chaos, Humility, taking the low place, hidden relationship with God, Cleansing water, flowing water that brings life.

Tav 400 = the Outcome of Trial and Testing.  Picture: a Rough Cross.  Means: Cross, Covenant, Seal, Mark, a Sign, Ownership, Finished or Complete.

With this breakdown, we can say:

Truth displays the strength and power of God’s leadership. Truth reveals humility born out of a hidden relationship with God. Truth displays the covenant we have with God.

In November of 2005, I was meditating on Psalm 91, and Holy Spirit stopped me on the word buckler. “His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4

5507 buckler-5507: A feminine noun referring to a small shield, a buckler. It refers to a defensive weapon used to ward off the attacks and blows of an enemy. It is used figuratively of God’s faithfulness to His people as their shield or protection (Ps 91:4).

<5503>buckler 5503 : A primitive root verb meaning to travel as merchants, to trade. It refers to a merchant, a commercial business man, a traveling trader (Gen 23:16; 37:28; 1 Kings 10:28; Isa 23:2; Ezek 27:12); the activity of carrying on trade, business (Gen 34:10,21). It has the sense of to go back and forth, to wander; to throb (of the heart) (Ps 38:10[:11 ]; Jer 14:18); to travel round (specifically as a peddaler, to palpitate-go about, merchant, occupy with, trade, traffic.

Samech= Samekh 60 = Pride, Conceit, Earthly. Means: To lean upon, Hold, or Support – the heart of God
Het= Chet 8 = New Beginnings. Means: Fence, Gate, or Tent wall – separates and connects
Resh2= Resh 200 = Insufficiency. Means: Head, Chief, Beginning

His BUCKLER of Truth is something we can Lean on for Support. It is a Fence that Connects us to God and Separates us from the enemy. It is the Head over all things, turning our Insufficiency to complete provision.

Holy Spirit went on to tell me, “Your Buckler of Truth Buckler is also Me hemming you in to do My will. It is My Love holding you back from your good ideas. At times it will feel like taunting and you will be frustrated and angry, but the second you surrender to Truth, there will be peace. My truth will set you free. My truth will bring surrender of your will and set you free in Mine! What joy is that place of unity with Me? What joy awaits all those who look to Me for help and surrender to My plan, My purpose, My will. It’s easy—Just Look Up!”

With all of this in mind, we can say that girding ourselves with the Belt of Truth means:

We compare everything to the truth of God’s Word.  If a thought comes to mind which is not in harmony with God’s truth, we dismiss it. –“No, that is a lie!” If an opportunity arises to say or do something which compromises or conflicts with the truth we avoid it completely.  God’s Word is our 24/7 plumbline. As we live in Truth, others will see God in our lives and be drawn to Him.

So, when we put on our Belt of Truth we can say,

“Today Lord, I am putting on the Belt of Truth. I will keep Your Truth ever before me.  You are the Truth and Your Word is Truth.  I am who You say I am and I can do what You say I can do. I will walk in Your Truth and refuse the lies of the enemy.  Others will see Your life in me and be drawn to You.  Thank You for this Belt of Truth.”

Tomorrow we will look at the Breastplate of Righteousness.

Shalom ♥
