Early this morning as I spent time praising God and thanking Him for who He is, a name came out of my mouth that I never remember using in praise or prayer before. “You are the Bright and MORNING STAR.” The second I heard it, I knew Holy Spirit was highlighting it and I needed to dig into this name and see why.
The name is here in Revelation 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
[Pausing here before we get into the break down of definitions. You may not be interested in the breakdown or don’t have time to read it all. If you want to skip to the bottom lines, scroll to the bottom of the text.]
Now for all of you Word treasure hunters with time to dig, this is the map I followed:
Morning Star doesn’t appear together in Strong’s for definition. Instead, it is suggested to look up Morning and Star.
In Job 38:7 it speaks of ‘morning stars,’ so I went there to look for the definition of Morning.
Here is the reference in context: Job 38:4-7
“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
MORNING: #1242 From primitive root <1239>
1242 Defined as morning, break of day, end of night, beginning of day, bright joy after a night of distress.
<1239> Defined as to plow, or (generally) break forth, i.e. (figuratively) to inspect, admire, care for, consider:—(make) inquire (-ry), (make) search, seek out.
In Hebrew, reading from right to left Morning here is spelled: Bet, Quf, Resh
Bet 2 = Divide or Division Means: House/Family; God’s word, God’s dwelling place (Temple)
Qof 100 = Election of God’s chosen ones, set apart as holy. Means: Holiness, Consecrated, Divide, sun on the horizon, Back of the Head, Make a Complete Circle, End of a Cycle, Final, Behind, Dome
Resh 200 = Insufficiency, Poverty. Picture: Head Means: Head, Chief, Beginning, Highest, Most Important, a Person, Human Reasoning vs. Obedience. (When we allow human reasoning to be our master, our head, poverty of the Spirit results.)
Taking the definitions and letter meanings together, I went to Holy Spirit and here are the bottom lines for MORNING:
Jesus as our Morning Star comes to bring Division between the House or Family of God and others. Setting aside as Holy those who live in His Word. He comes like the Sun on the horizon ending the Cycle of darkness, bringing light. He comes as Head to bring to an end the Poverty of Human reasoning versus Obedience to God and His Word.
I also looked it up in Greek out of the Revelation 22:16 reference. In Greek, MORNING is Strong’s #3720- which leads to a trail of four other words to get to the bottom line.
G3720 is defined as Dawn, early morning
G3722 is defined as Sunrise, Rising of Light
G3735 is defined as to Rise, to Rear, Lifting above the plain.
G142 is defined as to Lift, to take up or away, to bear, carry; by Hebraism (compare H5375)
#5375 is a Hebrew primitive root meaning to expiate sin, away with, bear (up), carry, lift up, loose, make to doubt, put away, remove or take away.
In Hebrew reading from right to left Star is spelled: Nun, Shin, Aleph
Nun 50 = Restoration, Holy Spirit, Jubilee. Means: Life or Action
Shin 300 = Victory of good over evil, Holy Spirit. Means: Teeth, Fire, the Fire of God to consume all His enemies, Devour, Destroy, Something Sharp.
Aleph 1= God – Echad – Unity, Unique (no other like it) Means: Ox head—Strength or Leader, Most Important, First – The Strength and Power of the leader
Here we find that Jesus as our Morning Star comes to bring the Restoration of Life. He comes bringing Victory of Good over Evil, consuming all of His enemies. He comes in the Strength and Power of the Leader, restoring Unity.
Okay, catch your breath. That’s a lot to take in and digest.
Let’s look at STAR. I went to Numbers 24:17 to nail down the definition because the word Star in this verse refers to Jesus.
Here it is in context – Balaam is prophesying to the Amalekites:
Numbers 24:16-17 “The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor,
And the utterance of the man whose eyes are opened;
16 The utterance of him who hears the words of God,
And has the knowledge of the Most High,
Who sees the vision of the Almighty,
Who falls down, with eyes wide open:
17 “I see Him, but not now;
I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,
And batter the brow of Moab,
And destroy all the sons of tumult.
STAR: #3556 from #3554 of Messiah, brothers, youth, numerous progeny, personification, God’s omniscience (fig.)
<3554> a primitive root to prick or penetrate; hence, to blister (as smarting or eating into):—burn.
In Hebrew, reading from right to left, Star is spelled: Kaf, Vav, Hey
Kaf 20 = Anointing of the hand on the head, Redemption. Means: To Bend Down, Surrender, Palm of the Hand, Wing – Good works with our hand in Yeshua
Vav 6 = Man. Means: Nail or Hook, to Secure, Pin together, Connect -Yeshua
Hey 5 = Grace. Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention – (at the end of a word: comes from letter before)
Jesus as our Morning Star comes to bring Redemption completely Surrendered to God doing Good Works. He comes to Secure us in Himself and Draw us into His Family, His House, His Word. (again to Himself)
STAR in Greek from the Revelation 22:16 reference is Strong’s #792. And again, there is a trail to follow of four more words.
G792 defined as a star
G4766 defined as strewn or spread
G4731 defined as stiff, solid, stable, steadfast or sure
G2476 defined as to stand, abide, appoint, bring to continue, lay up, covenant, establish.
As I took this to Holy Spirit, here is what I believe is the bottom lines from the Greek:
Jesus as our Morning Star is Solid, Steadfast and Sure. He is coming to Establish us in His Covenant and His influence will Spread across the world.
MORNING STAR – BOTTOM LINES
Jesus as our Morning Star comes to bring Division between the House or Family of God and others. He comes to Set aside as Holy those who live in His Word. He comes like the Sun on the horizon ending the Cycle of darkness, bringing light. He comes as Head to bring to an end the Poverty of Human reasoning versus Obedience to God and His Word.
He comes to bring the Restoration of Life, Victory of Good over Evil, consuming all of His enemies. He comes in the Strength and Power of the Leader, restoring Unity and bringing Redemption of lives completely Surrendered to God doing Good Works. He comes to Secure us in Himself and Draw us into His Family, His House, and His Word.
Jesus as our Morning Star is Solid, Steadfast and Sure. He is coming to Establish us in His Covenant and His influence will Spread across the world.
Jesus is the Word made flesh and we are One in Him. I believe He is coming (not His second coming, but His manifest Presence) to make our identity in Him more of a reality than ever before. In Him, we will see His will done sovereignly through us, on earth as in heaven.
So I declare today, “The Morning Star is rising over America. It’s time to rejoice.”
Amen and amen!!
