Fix Your Gaze on Jesus Christ: A Look at Song of Songs 5:10-16 – Part 1

Song of Songs 5_10bI don’t know about you, but with all that is going on in my life and in the world, if I don’t keep my eyes on Jesus, I am toast and jam for the enemy.  Last year I dug into a portion of scripture that describes our King, our Savior and the Lover of our souls.  Methodically and prayerfully I dissected each word in Hebrew and found some amazing treasure to consider.  I’m not sure how many blogs this adventure will take us, but I hope you will join me.

What we behold, we become.  So let’s get started and Behold our King.

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This  portion of S.O.S. chapter 5, is the declaration of the bride, the Shulamite, about her bridegroom to the daughters of Jerusalem:

True righteousness is complete recognition of our weakness and of God’s unequaled ability.  We then submit to Him and His will, only speaking what He speaks and only doing what He does.  It is then, that we, like Jesus, can say, “And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” John 8:29

2 Corinthians 3:18 HCSB   We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

From my Journals

Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me.  For I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden light.  Matthew 11:28-29

 Turn your eyes upon Jesus

Look full in His wonderful face

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim

In the light of His glory and grace.

Keep your eyes on Me and keep your appointment to meet with Me daily, you will unravel all of the enemy’s plans.

I am teaching you how to rest in a storm.  Rest in Me.  I hold all things together by My Word.  Keep your eyes on Me Beloved. I am with you. I am for you. I will not leave you.
