Are You Anointed?

We hear so much about being anointed and walking in the anointing, etc.  I felt prompted this morning to take a closer look at what ‘ANOINTED’ actually means.

Isaiah 61:1 says, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor.”

Anointed here is Strong’s number 4886: to rub with oil, to anoint, to consecrate, to paint

It is spelled, reading right to left, with a mem, shin , and chet. Chet ShinMem

Mem  Mem = 40 (trial or testing) Means: womb, water, chaos, mighty, massive, humility, taking the lowest place, hidden relationship with God, cleansing water bringing life.

Shin Shin = 300 (Victory of good over evil)  Means: Teeth, Fire, fiery zeal of God to overcome and destroy His enemies

Chet  Chet = 8 (new beginnings)  Means: Fence, Gate, Tent wall, to separate, cut-off, or protect.

So, taking all this into meditation, when Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me… He was saying, The Spirit of the Lord (Holy Spirit) has birthed Me in the water of cleansing through trial and testing.  He kept washing me clean as I humbled Myself and entered into a hidden relationship with Him.

In that place, His fiery zeal overcame and destroyed the enemies of My soul that were tempting Me to reject God’s will.  He separated Me with the Word and protected Me, cutting Me off from every foe.

When I went to preach the gospel to the poor, I was sharing this process with others and they were being set free and anointed.

Anointing then is born out of trials and testing and relationship with Holy Spirit.  It is born out of yielding to God’s word.  I sincerely question whether anointing can be imparted from one person to another without this process.  Anointing costs us something.  It costs dying to self and complete submission to Holy Spirit.

In Him, we are anointed and that anointing increases as we yield in relationship to Him.
