“Treasures from the Secret Place”
Chapter 16
“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor the arrow that flieth by day
Psalm 91:5b
Let’s see again, one of the enemy’s greatest weapon….WORDS. I love the Amplified version of this passage.
You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night,
nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,
Normally when Psalm 91 is read, it is directed to protection from physical attack, and while it definitely covers this, the real meaning comes right into our kitchens and school rooms and work places to show us a different kind of enemy.
Here’s what this looks like uncovered.
Arrow:
2671 A masculine noun denoting arrow. It was a hunting and military missile shot from a bow (metaphorically in various ways: the Lord’s arrows (Num 24:8; Deut 32:23,42) which were His judgments; or even His Messianic ruler sent by Him (Ps 45:5[:6 ]). His arrow of deliverance for His people was like lightning (Zech 9:14). The wickedness and harmful words of evil persons are described as arrows of violence (Ps 11:2; 64:3[:4 ]; 91:5; Prov 25:18). A fool’s or demented person’s words are described as arrows, firebrands, and even death (Prov 26:18). Isaiah’s Servant of the Lord is His choice arrow (Isa 49:2). Jeremiah describes himself as the target of the Lord’s arrow of judgment (Lam 3:12).
= Chet 8 = New Beginnings. Means: Fence, Gate, or Tent wall – separates and connects
= Tzade 90 = Humility. Means: Righteousness
Note the underlined meaning in the definition.
ARROW: Arrows are words spoken—shot like arrows, that Fence us in Separating us from the truth, from Righteousness. Rather than foster Humility, they stir us to respond in kind.
Paul wrote about this in Ephesians 6:14-17
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. NKJV
The word darts there is also defined as arrows.
Flieth:
5774 uwph (oof); a primitive root; to cover (with wings or obscurity); also (by implication of dimness) to faint (from the darkness of swooning): KJV – brandish, be (wax) faint, flee away, fly (away), weary. I. A verb meaning to fly, to flutter, to flicker, to glow, to shine; to grow weary. It indicates the act of flying. A verb meaning to brandish. It pictures the to and fro threatening movements of a drawn sword (Ezek 32:10).
= Ayin 70= Completion of time. Means: Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen,Window of the soul-good or bad
= Vav 6 =Man. Means: Nail or Hook, to Secure, Pin together, Connect (good or bad)
= Final Pey 80 = New governmental order. Means: Mouth, to Speak or Open, Beginning
FLIETH: The enemy loves to show off, waving threats in our face, trying to nail us to his fearful ways and secure us under his government and words are one of his main tools.
By Day:
3119 yowmam (yo-mawm’); from OT:3117; daily: KJV – daily, (by, in the) day (-time).
<3117> yowm (yome); from an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours), whether literal (from sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the next), or figurative (a space of time defined by an associated term), [often used adverb].
The enemy does most of his work in the dark, but he has a day crew as well. These attacks often come from the ones we value the most, the ones closest to us. As we look at the Hebrew meaning we can see how we are easily deceived:
= Yod 10 = The outcome, the completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power – Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, to Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand, also refers to the Holy Spirit as it always hangs in the air overseeing
= Vav 6 = Man. Means: Nail or Hook, to Secure, Pin together, Connect –Yeshua
= A closed Mem 600 = Means: Hidden Truth (closed mems are always the last letter in a word)
DAY: When the words come from someone we value it sounds like: They may be seeing from God’s perspective..Holy Spirit information, and they are speaking to re-Connect us with the Hidden Truth that we have somehow missed.
This is DECEPTION in it’s highest form, because it speaks to our soul (mind, will and emotions—it touches how we feel about ourselves, God and others.)
That’s what Paul was talking about in Ephesians 6.
Ephesians 6:10-13
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. NKJV
Words are the focus of enemy attack. Psalm 91:5 assures us that when the enemy comes shouting his threats, goading us with his words, whispering lies to turn us from the truth, to put us in the place of a complete poverty mindset, in the dark—-WE DO NOT NEED TO FEAR!
As we make our permanent dwelling in Him, in His Truth, Our God, the Supreme Power over all that was, all that is, and all that will be, extends His right hand of unequaled power in our behalf.
~~~Journal Notes~~~
One morning in August of 2013, I spent my usual time with the Lord and I started asking Him in earnest, “What is holding me back?”
“You are holding you back. You don’t believe who you are. You are looking at yourself and judging that you don’t qualify. You see yourself as not pure enough, not joyful enough, not surrendered enough, not worshipful enough. HOG WASH Those thoughts are straight from the enemy and as unclean as pork is to the belly.”
Then He started telling me how He sees me. “I see you pressing in with all you know, to know Me and to love Me. I see you qualified. Your heart is pure and your motives are right. Your worship sings from your heart without words.” This was a much better perspective than mine.
Then He said to me, “Take My hand. Come with Me.” We started down this path. There was a humongous granite boulder right in the middle of the path—we could not see around it.
“It’s as if I’m on a mountain top instead of just a boulder in the road. The view goes on for endless miles to towns, hills and mountains.”
Then He said, “Beloved, the boulder is made of thoughts deposited over time by the enemy. It has become an obstacle in your path. It cuts off the view of My plan and purpose.”
“When you put the enemy and his tactics under your feet, your vision is limitless. It’s time to climb the rock for good and not return to the path of obstacles. It’s time to put it behind you and press on to the high calling you have IN ME. Beloved, there isn’t any place I can’t go nor anything I can’t do. When you live IN ME your declaration is the same.”
Then I asked Him, “Father, how do I put feet to this today?”
“Begin by cleaning out your mental storehouse of all the false beliefs the enemy has placed there. Bring them into the light and let me show you truth. Write down these false beliefs and throw them into the Reservoir. Then make a list of new confessions—I will lead you.
I opened my Bible to start recording new confessions, and as I did it opened to Psalm 81. My eyes immediately fell on verses 9-10
There shall be no foreign god among you;
Nor shall you worship any foreign god.
I am the Lord your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Then I heard in my spirit, “False beliefs about yourself are foreign gods. Don’t give them worth. Open your mouth and I will fill you with heaven’s declarations.”
Put to Action:
1. Found a rock in my yard with many flat surfaces, grabbed a permanent marker and started writing the false beliefs on the rock.
2. About noon, I drove to Hogan Reservoir and parked the car.
3. Grabbed my rock and headed down the bank to the water.
4. When I got to the water I declared, “These false beliefs are no longer part of me. I reject you! Father, from here on out I receive Your truth for my identity.”
5. Then I threw the rock in the lake—never to found again.
6. Hiked back to the car and turned the key: The first thing I heard on the radio was: “Your love never fails, Never gives up, Never runs out on me.”
God wasn’t upset with me…He loved me completely.
I was working on a message called, “What’s in Your Storehouse?” I was thinking of the worldly things that consume our time, energy and money. But that day He showed me, while I may not engage in those worldly things, I was worshiping another god by the value I placed in the lies the enemy was telling me. Those lies were stockpiling in the storehouse of my soul, keeping me from my destiny.
Be on the lookout night and day for the deceiver. String your bows with the Truth, and send him packing!
