Rough Waters Ahead

January 16, 2026 — From my journal

This chorus played in my spirit through the night:

More than cold religion, I want You
[Chorus]
I want to know You, I want to follow
Lord, be the Shepherd of my soul
There in the valley, along the narrow way
Lord, be the Shepherd of my soul

Yes, Lord, Yes.  You are my Shepherd, and I do want to know You more and follow You all the days of my life.  Through the valleys and on the narrow way.  Thank You for Your Presence, Your compassion, Your wisdom, and strength.  Without You, I am dry tinder ready for destruction.

May I, by Your grace, Remember Who You are and what You have done.  Help me apply this practice to my daily life.

You do well to call on Me.  I am never out of reach, and always ready to answer.  You know Me well, Beloved, but we are going deeper, wider, higher than you’ve ever been before.  Your flesh will fear, but your spirit will soar.  We will ride the currents together and watch what God is doing, for there is much that you cannot see now.  But you will.

Holy Spirit are these my words or Yours?

Yes, this is Me.  You aren’t hearing any other voice but Mine.  You know Me and you follow.  All is well.

Rough waters directly ahead.  Rough water and unknown paths.  I know the Way.  I am the Way.  The roads to Zion are already mapped in your heart.  You’ve always loved a treasure hunt, and treasure is ahead in the middle of the mess.  I love hiding in unknown, invisible places, unexpected and unmarked by human hands, but places put there by Me.

Do you not feel it?

I feel the shift, the turning, but I don’t see the path.

I am the path.  You are the treasure hunter and treasure you will discover—My hidden ones to love, to nurture, to join you on the path.  Don’t look at the outside—their dress, their age, their personality.  I will lead, and you will be surprised.

Holy Spirit, why is the name Enos coming to my mind?

Look, and I will show you.

And Archibald? Archie?  Cast me not away for questioning, Lord.

Go look, and you will see.  Go Now!

So, I looked up the meaning of the name Enos, which is in the Bible.  It says, mortal man, the frailty of human life compared to the eternal strength of God, to be weak and social.

Archibald is not in the Bible, but in the meaning of baby names I found:

Archibald means pure, holy, genuine, brave, bold, bald, strong.

Holy Spirit, these are opposite attributes.

Yes, don’t judge by these.  Look to Me and see the treasures within.

More than you can imagine is yet before you.  Time with Me, like this, is of utmost importance.

By Your grace, Holy Spirit, I will.

Shalom ♥
