Caution – Who is Leading You?

Is there anyone out there who is willing to admit this?  “My entire view of life has changed in the past few years.”  Put me first in line.

We are all living in a world where lies and deceit have run rampant.  We were under the delusion of security and safety that exploded in our faces.  Systems of destruction were hidden under reports of freedom, health, and abundant supply.

With all the exposure coming to light it is difficult not to put the words we hear and the people who are speaking them, under serious questioning.  They may be telling us the absolute truth but without knowing the facts, it is hard to accept quickly.

I’ve been privy to some challenges lately in this struggle.  So, I went to the Lord this morning and asked Him, “Lord, please shine Your light on this situation.”

Immediately I heard, “Psalm 32:7.”

You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

That verse spoke to me in a couple of ways.  After writing the book about Psalm 91, that speaks of the secret place and God being my refuge and fortress, the words ‘hiding place,’ settled much of my storm.  Then the part about Him surrounding me with songs of deliverance also rang bells.  For a week now, He has awakened me each day with songs that spoke to me at a personal level.

But, when I looked down at the next verse I realized this was the same psalm the Lord led me to the hour after my husband died.

On that day, I sat in the living room with the authorities in our bedroom doing what needed to be done.  I grabbed my Bible from the end table and flipped it open.  The first verse I saw was Psalm 32:8.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye
.

In that moment, I knew God was with me.  He gave me a truth to stand on as I stepped into a new chapter of my life. It has played a strong role in my life over these last 15 months.

After He gave me that scripture, I went back and dug a little deeper.  What does it mean that God will guide us with His eye?   I went to my concordance.

The word ‘Eye’ in this verse is Strong’s Concordance #5869.  It is spelled with an Ayin, Yod, and Nun.

Ayin 70= Completion of time.  Means:  Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-good or bad (made of a Zayin and Yod—Word and Spirit)

Yod 10 = The outcome or completion of something. Means: Hand, Right Arm, Power, Right hand of God’s power, a Deed Done, To Work, to Cover, Allow, Hollow, Open Hand

Final Nun  700 = Restoration – Means: Life or Action

When you put all of this together it means,

You will see and understand that My right hand of power is working and covering you to restore your life.

As I read this notation written in my Bible, it anchored me again in trust.  Then the chorus of one of the songs He gave me this week erupted in my soul.

I lift my hands up, Lay my whole life down

My whole life down, before You

I lift my hands up, Lay my whole life down

My whole life down, before You – from My King Forever, by Josh Baldwin

Then the combination of two praise choruses followed.

Lord, I give You my heart
I give You my soul, I live for You alone
Every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake
Lord, have Your way in me

(Lord, I Give You My Heart-written by Reuben Morgan)

Things in the past, things yet unseen
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my heart, all of my praise
My heart and my hands are lifted to you

Lord, I offer my life to you
Everything I’ve been through
Use it for your glory
Lord I offer my days to you
Lifting my praise to you
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer you my life

(Lord, I Offer My Life – Don Moen)

These verses of scripture and the songs stabilize my soul.  He may speak to you through other things like dreams, bumper stickers, something your child says, or a million other options. God knows each of us and speaks to us in ways we can hear. But we truly have a God who sees us, knows us completely, and is leading us.  We can trust Him for today and the future. It is a day by day adventure.

I hope these thoughts bring peace to your storm.  Remember, Jesus slept in the boat while the disciples were in panic.  He knew God told Him to go to the other side of the lake and knew God would get them there.  He had nothing to fear.  He is the same God today.  He never changes. We can put our whole lives in His hands.

Be blessed.  Rest in His faithfulness and follow where He leads.

Shalom ♥
