Treasures in the Pause

In the last six weeks, I’ve sold and moved out of my home, moved into a rental for three weeks, and then moved into my new home. It’s been a whirlwind of nonstop activity and decisions that often left me questioning God’s direction. I plan to document this when my CEO gives me the go-ahead. For now, I invite you to see one piece of evidence that God is always with us, and He is always speaking.

I found this note in my unpacking. In the middle of cleaning out and preparing our home for the new owners, I took a pause. I am thankful I recorded it because it still speaks.

–As I sit gazing out the window, my eyes feast on dark bare tree limbs etched with white. There are fruit trees with crystalline pools around their trunks. In the quiet I hear,

“This is your season of rest in the time of fruitlessness. I will strengthen your roots. No striving needed. Rest in Me and let Me work.”

As I continue looking over the landscape, billions of infinitesimal snowflakes surrender together in a cloud of splendor to the earth.

“Their size is small, but each one is unique in design,” He says. “ You don’t have to be big and flashy to bring Me pleasure. Just be who I’ve created you to be and watch how I knit all of you together to cover the fields with a pristine quilt. My greatest joy is to see you receive and joyfully give the gifts and talents I’ve given you for My purpose, together.”

These words continue to counsel me today.

When we take time to be still and expectantly listen, God often speaks. We miss so much in our rushing, striving, must-get-it-done lifestyles. In God’s forever cycle of life, there is seedtime, growth, harvest, and rest. Our lives flourish when we yield to His plan.

Take time my friends. There are treasures to be found.

Shalom ♥

Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. 1 Kings 19:11-12

  1. Thank you for this beautifully written reflection. Your portrayal of ‘Treasures in the Pause’ deeply resonates reminding us that in the stillness and quiet, God often speaks most tenderly. I appreciate your transparency in sharing life transitions, and your words encourage me to pause more often and listen with open heart. Truly a gift to readers.

    • Virginia, I do my best to remember that He is always waiting to spend time with us and share His heart. This helps me get to that quiet place more frequently. To think that we have one-on-one time with the King of all is hard to wrap my mind around. But, it’s true.
May He bless you in your pursuit. Much love.
