The Lampstand/Candlestick – Part 7 – The Spirit of Counsel
In our study of the Lampstand, we started with the central branch of the Spirit of God. We discovered it to be the power source for the Lampstand. Without it, the rest of the branches are powerless.
We found that the Spirit of Wisdom provides solutions or guidance that are completely out of the norm. God’s wisdom is beyond our ability to find without His help. And the Spirit of Understanding is the revelations needed to put God’s wisdom into action. It is the how-to for any instruction given.
Now we are going to look at the Spirit of Counsel. Counsel is more personal. Each of us has a unique purpose and destiny for our lives. God alone knows what that is, and He knows each of us intimately. Ephesians 2:10 says, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Psalm 139:1-16.
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. 5 You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; 12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
With all this in consideration, Who better to ask for counsel than Yahweh?
Counsel is Strong’s H6098 – ʿēṣâ and it looks like this: עֵצָה
The Strong’s definition is to advise, consult, give counsel, counsel, purpose, devise, or plan.
And here are the letters from right to left:
Ayin 70= Completion of time. Means: Eye, to See, Understand, Experience, or to be Seen, Window of the soul-good or bad (made of a Zayin and Yod—Word and Spirit)
Tzade 90 = Humility. Picture-Fishhook. Means: Righteousness, to pull toward, Desire, Trouble, Harvest
Hey 5 = Grace. Means: Revelation – 5 is the number of Torah, Behold, Give Attention, unfold or look upon – (if it comes at the end of a word: the meaning is based on the letter before)
When we put all this together, we can say that Counsel looks into the window of our soul. It sees and understands how to pull us toward righteous living. And it brings us revelation that we need to pay attention to because it is righteous counsel.
We may seek counsel from someone other than Yahweh or try to figure things out on our own, but it will always be less than the best for us unless they or we go to Him first. Yahweh’s counsel is custom-made for us alone.
Proverbs 11:14 says, Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
My husband and I went to a marriage counselor once in our lives and believed that she was a Christian counselor. But the counsel she gave us was without hope and showed very little godly wisdom or understanding.
Yahweh’s counsel reflects His nature. There is always love, always hope, always the promise of covenant help imbedded in the counsel of the Lord.
One of Yahweh’s biggest frustrations with Israel was their refusal to seek or follow Yahweh’s counsel. Psalm 107:10-11 says, (There were) those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons— Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High.
And in Isaiah 30:1 “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin.”
And in Judges 17:6, in another period of history, says, In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
Israel was not seeking Yahweh’s counsel. They were doing things ‘their way.’
Jeremiah voiced Yahweh’s heart. Jeremiah 23:22 But if they had stood in My counsel, and had caused My people to hear My words, then they would have turned them from their evil way and from the evil of their doings.
While we may think we know what is best, Proverbs 19:21 says, There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.
Yahweh tells us over and over where to find the best counsel.
Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
Remember, ‘law’ means instruction – Yahweh’s word.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
In Isaiah 28, Isaiah gives some counsel about farming practices and closes by saying, in verse 29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.
Veronika West, a prophetess from Ireland posted a word this week to America. In it, she mentions the power of the Seven Spirits of God who stand before Yahweh’s throne in heaven.
Given the conditions we are facing as a nation right now, here is what Yahweh gave to her to speak:
America, I say to you, fear not! Take hold of My Covenant Promises in this hour. Take hold of the manifest Power of My Seven Spirits!
America, nothing is too difficult for Me! Nothing is to hard for Me to handle. What shall stand in the way of the manifest Power of My Seven Spirits?
We need the Spirit of Counsel for our lives and our nation. It is seen in the Lampstand and found in Yeshua, His Word and it comes by Holy Spirit. Yahweh must always be our number one counselor. If we receive counsel from others it must align with Yahweh’s word or it is a path to delay or destruction.
Open up Yahweh’s Operations Manual, kneel before Him in prayer, and ask for His counsel. His plans for us are good and not for evil to give us hope and a future – Jeremiah 29:11.
